Is the T28 turbo a good upgrade

I'm interested in the FP Big28 as well. I like that fact that it looks stock because I still have a warranty on my car, but I've never ordered anything from Forced Performance. I guess a lot of you have had good luck with them and they are a recommended vendor, but is there anything about the turbo that lets you know they didn't just send you a rebuilt T-25? The outer housing is the same, right? Do they stamp their name on it somewhere? Sorry about my paranoia, my medication is wearing off.

put the big28 next to a t-25 and if you don't see the differnce you need medication. you have to look at the wheels though not the outside. The comp. and exh. wheel are much larger. It also has FP stamped on the exhaust flange. Oh yeh when you put put it in and it holds 20 psi to redline then you know it's not a t-25. The big 28 is awesome and with traction you'll see some impressive numbers at the track to. Go for it.

Well I don't know if you notice but he trapped at 109 thats 12's with a AWD and high 12's are possible with a good set of slicks. But to pull mid 12 on regular street tires with a FWD will take atleast 118-120 mph traps.

I have a 1996 TSI AWD I think I'm going to go with this turbo. I just hope it put me in the very low 13's at least.

Anyone have any opinions about exhaust needed for a big 28? I've been under the impression that a 2.5" full exhaust should be adequate for anything less than a 20g ... assuming stock block, and only other minor upgrades like air intake, fuel pump, boost controller and maybe injectors.

I would give the fpt28 a big thumbs up. I have a friend with a 97 AT Talon running one on a supra smic and 75 shot, with your other basic mods to include Crower Cams, EVO3 03, 3" exhaust, s-afc and 550's. He also has a larger stall.

His best runs to date off the bottle are, Keep in mind this is an Auto
12.7@106

75 shot
11.91@114

Pretty good for that small looking turbo, FP did an awesome job.

There is another guy who just moved here with a fpbig28 and he ran 12.6@106 first pass out untuned, its still on stock cams and stuff. Im sure it has alot more in it.

the turbo is definitely an impressive turbo for what it is.. but i really dont recommend it to FWD people that are hoping for anything other then maybe low-mid 13s and thats with traction..

What does anybody know about the other turbo that they are working on. I saw another one on the fp website that is a bolt on to, but they arn't selling it yet.

Only go this route if you have a 1g since the install kit is needed for the 2g both the turbo's flow just about the same number so there would be NO big benefit. Is choosing the B16G over the B28 don't plan on a big power difference its better to just go even bigger then.
