IS the starter on a 1g the same as 2g???

Thats all I need to know because if not then I will have to buy a new one because I am doing a 6 bolt swap into my 2g

I think they are both the same. I was wondering the same thing when I put my starter on my 6-bolt, but I compared it to a 6-bolt one I found in the junkyard and they looked the same. I bolted my 2g one up and its fine. I'm assuming you are talking about a 4g63...not the N/T you have listed in your profile. I'm guessing there is a difference between 420a and 4g63.

yeah I am talking about the 4g63...So you did use the 1g starter on the 2g tranny and it worked??? or did you just think that they looked the same??

I compared the 1g and 2g starters and they looked the same. Since I already had the 2g one, I bolted that to the 1g 6-bolt block with a 2g transmission in my 2g.

All 4G63's starters mount the same. The only difference throughout the years is a stronger starter used on 9/2/96- 4G63's. The later starter's are 1.4KW vs. 1.2KW.
