I know someone who will sell me a big T-28 turbo for 200$$ ..I havent heard anything about the t-28 ..Does anyone know anything about it ..Is it an overall good turbo :dsm: Thanx

Search around, there are a lot of threads about the big 28. I personally have just put one on and I think it's fine. You are however a 1g, and one of the biggest appeals for people who buy 28's (flanged for a dsm manifold that is, not something like one off of a silvia) is that they are bolt on for 2g's. There are better turbos for your platform then probably, but 200 dollars is a steal. You could probably resell it on the classifieds/trader or even trade someone for a 16g, which will be bolt on for your car.

I think that pretty much covers it except for one thing...

It's condition... It won't be wotrth much if it is going to have to go back to FP to get redone.

MAke sure it is an FP Big 28 or it might be a T2828 (the earlier version) or perhaps even a T28 Killer (totally different turbo)

Either way unless you plan on trading it for an EVO (which is bolt on for you you luck dog) I think It will wind up being more headaches to you that it would be worth.

Well this is link quote is from the forced performance website.

A Wolf in Sheep's Turbine Housings
The FP-Big28 uses modified T25 compressor and turbine housings, which means this turbo could trick its mamma into thinking it was a T25. Don't let that cute little shell fool you, however, because on the inside it's 100% pure evil. We carefully selected a compressor and turbine combination that provide massive flow capabilities and very little back pressure. Doesn't sound like a big deal? Did we mention it makes full boost in just a hair over 3000rpm, and holds solid all the way to redline? Now we're cooking with gas.

Thank you, drive through.
Our goal with the FP-Big28 was similar to its FP-T28/28 predecessor… to create a fast spooling, bolt on turbo that got up and went. We wanted to give the FP-Big28 a little more "umph" than the T-28, but when we strapped one on a 2G AWD and took it to the track, the results knocked us on our ass. At 21psi, the FP-Big28 pulled our full weight 99 GSX to an [email protected].

Here is the link to that http://linux.forcedperformance.net/...P&Product_Code=NTDSMFPBIG28&Category_Code=DSM

Now i am not sure if thats the same one your looking into buying but hopefully that helps you in what you want to know.

A few misconceptions. A T28 will bolt on to a 1G no problem. You just have to modify (ie: bend) the water lines, get a new oil supply line that receives oil from the filter housing and a 10 metric plug for the head. Use the oil return line from a 2G. It only adds an extra half hour to the turbo install. Pretty simple really.

If the turbo is in good shape, I would buy it and put it in. Just remember to get new oil supply/return lines and a plug for the cylinder head.
