I Have been hearing rumors about there being a T-28 Ball Bearing turbo out there somewhere, I have searched the threads and searched all the vendors I know of and can't seem to find it, anyone have any ideas? Could this maybe have come off a nother manfacturers car?

There are no T28 Ball Bearing Turbos that are direct bolt-on for 2G DSMs. You have the T28, Big T28 and T28 Killer. None of them are ball bearing turbos.

Some Nissans came from the factory with a ball bearing T28 turbo on them. They will not bolt onto a DSM.

I was just curious because the T-28 has a rep for one of the fastest, so i was gonna ask does it matter much, are you really goin to gain anything from it?

It's probably pretty much the same as the regular T-28 (with the exception of being able to spool to full boost if you were to fart in the same room as it). Pretty good starter turbo...I daily drove mine at 19psi and it had a pretty nice topspeed ability (Note to self...dont go 165 down I-80). I say if you are looking to upgrade but not looking to go to big yet I say just stick with either a 16g or maybe just porting a 14b

naw save it for I-5 haha

i'm actually looking to buy a T-28 "Killer" soon.

save your money and do not invest in the "big28 killer" from tchargers.com. I ran that POS for 3 months and after normal driving the turbine housing would be cherry red. The thing is an ineffecient POS. If you're looking to get a good turbo, just get a e3b16g, or a PTE50 or something of the like. Something that WORKS.

Get some fuel mods, skip the t28 series & go right to the evoIII. Still has super fast spool up and flows more in the top end. More then likely this will be too small for you after awhile so might as well make it only 2 upgrades instead of three :D

ya that is true T-28 would only be a short term, see i'm not going for drag racing to i'm not lookin for a cannon, i'm starting in on time attackes and circuit racing this spring/summer, so i don't need hella top end boost i need quick spool up, i'm building my car up to spike at 18-20 PSI and hold around 16PSI stable.

The T28 would be a fine choice for you then, although you don't really need a ball bearing variant of it unless the extra few tenths or maybe even couple of seconds mattered that much. Be sure to keep it on some sort of side mount and worry more about overall flow to the radiator though.

So maybe get a larger side mount and then some better than stock rad. fans?

fmic's do let less airflow through to the rad, which will have a bigger effect during circuit racing but I know from first hand experience that a smic is no wears as good as a fmic. I had the HRC smic which is almost twice as big as the stock plus bar & plate etc. With my evoIII @ 18 psi I would knock in third & forth. Once I switched to a fmic, I gained 2lb/min in airflow, the car pull alot harder with the cooler charge & I never knock all the way through 5th. Was also able to add a few degres of timing from 6000 rpms up to get more out of the top end. If you do some research you will find some fmic cores are alot more restricting compared to others.

Radiator fans, radiator itself if it's not in good condition, all other aspects of the coolant system will be important to check including the upper and lower radiator hoses.

There is no question that a FMIC does a much better job cooling compared to a SMIC, but for real circuit racing cooling is much more important IMO than making that extra power.

Greg Collier's thread about preparations for the 2006 season should give you some help and an opportunity to ask him questions, since he's much more experienced than everyone in this thread.
