I have a 14b i bought of a guy a little while ago, i had it ported and all but it over boosts up to 20 psi? I took my mbc out and just lined right from the wg actuator to the j pipe but it still boosts to 20 psi? Is it common for a actuator to go bad? Im sure it was sitting out side in the elements but im not sure how durable they are and before i buy a new one i need some opinions. Thanks

WG actuators, external WGs, MBCs, and FPRs rarely ever break. They are simple designs and simple designs are more durable. Did you install your MBC correctly? Have you tried pulling on the WG arm? I can pull apart my 16g arm but barely.

Does it go straight to 20psi, or does it creep up to it?

Did you port your o2 housing as well as the turbo? If the turbine housing is ported, but not the o2 housing, especially the wastegate passage, that could cause boost creep.

Are your vac lines new? A crack in one of them could create an overboost situation if it can't hold enough pressure in the line to operate the wga, like not having a line attached to it at all.

Are there any shims on it? Does it have an adjustable nut on the end of it like the ebay e3?

I removed the mbc and just connect the line strait from the j pipe to the waste gate. When it was apart i did pull on the waste gate to and i managed to be able to pull it open. It still creeps to 20 psi, i ported the turbo and have a 3 inch exhaust but i didnt port the o2 housing so maybe that is the problem? It looked like it was pretty open though? And ill check the lines after school here but im almost positive their fine.

Is there any waste gate acutators that open more then stock? I repositioned the stock one to allow the flapper to open more and it fixed my over boost problem almost completely. But now its takes a long time to build any boost due to the gate being slightly held open at all times now.
