I've been searching for at least an hour and I can't find a solid answer to why my driver side intermediate shaft/carrier bearing won't line up to my a/c bracket/block...

There have been multiple post regarding this topic and nobody gave a solid answer....

I've tried a 95-96 style shaft/bearing and it wouldn't line up so I found a 97-99 bracket and bearing and it still won't line up...Does anybody have any ideas??

I've heard pound it in and I tried to do so with a piece of 2x4 and a small hammer...

I used turbosax2 post about the bracketry....

Ideas would be welcome, this is the last part needed to get the car road ready....Jim

How far is it off? It's probably just not in the trans all the way. Also a peice of wood will absorb the impact and won't really do much but dent the wood and eventually break. Try using a flat piece of metal so you don't damage the splines on the shaft, and a bigger hammer always helps. I dealt with the same thing helping a friend swap a trans, clutch, and flyweel. The wood split in two, so I used a 1/8 inch thick piece of steel and a good hammer and it went in with no effort. Just make sure the trans side of the splines are clean and the seal is in place properly.
