Like others, I want to repaint faded, damaged, or off-color gray interior pieces. There ought to be an interior paint code but the label on my '95 GS-T has faded to blank. I've bought a few cans of various commercial gray paints, all were much too light. There's no 'we'll match your sample' store near here that I know about and going that route with specialists is $75-150 or so, plus the paint.

There's a lot of ways this could be solved: If we had the code for the SEM custom color mentioned above I'll bet that could be ordered by mail. Or if we had the DSM paint code -- surely that's not really unknown. Or if someone got a hit just by sorting commercial products. One custom shop lists 2900-some grays -- there's bound to be one of those that's perfect but figuring that out from a computer screen won't work.

Can anyone help?

I was hoping the paint shop that mixed my can would have been able to share the formula, or index the measurement to a pre-mixed can, but they either could not or would not. $50 can

Thanks. I'm going to solve this problem one way or another and I hope to solve it in a way that'll work for everyone.

One thing I'll do is look for other Mitsubishi car lists for those years: All the models used the same interior colors and all have the problem so maybe someone has already figured this out. Months, perhaps, but -- more to come.

Do you have an O'riellys Auto Parts anywhere near you? Let them scan the backside of a good interior part with their paint scan tool and mix it for you. My store can even put it into spray cans for me.

Perhaps the O'Reilly's franchise is different for each state or subsection of the country, because down South they don't do any paint mixing. They have on the shelf paint products but otherwise just a regular auto parts store. Some of the larger stores in the highly populated areas even have brake lathes for turning rotors, but still no paint mixing equipment that I am aware of.
It's worth your phone call to check and see for your area though!

Yep. The surrounding towns from us don't offer that service and maybe we have a niche because nobody else mixes paint around here either.

Our experience with the process my son used and @BLACK'98DSM uses worked out good but it was around $300 ($20.00/can). That included the etching primer and adhesion promoter and the Carmine Red paint in 11 spray cans.
It looks new and he did that back in March of 2019.
