here is a video made by Jrock (member on here), he shows how you can trim your crash bar if you want to keep it, and how to trim your bumper for the PR/CXracing kit. YouTube - ‪jjrock5's Channel‬‏

Thats how i installed mine but i left the stash and didn't put the crash beam back in because truthfully by the time i cut it up like that it would be so weak you could probably snap it by hand...

Anyways if you hit something its gonna get destroyed probably just as bad with or without it. :toobad:

Ya I never bothered cutting mine up and putting it on, I figured if I hit anything, everything would most likely get damanged anyways so I opted to leave it off.

punishment racing kit has a knock off Bov doesn't mess with the fog lights and it's cheap. Do have to trim your bumper though. I was able to modify my support and keep it, and no you can't break it by hand and yes it is still pretty strong.

If you go to RRE's website and look at "Jumpers 2g griffin FMIC install" or siomethig really closely worded to that you will see an intercooler that barely intereferes with anything and supports more HP than most guys are going to make or need.

The core i have is the same shape and roughly same size and supports 700 HP, (it's spearco instaed of griffin) it's top to bottom flow and both inlet and outlet are on the same side. This intercooler is widely used on things from grand nationals to turbo mustangs and rx-7's making great power and is a very capable and affordable core.

I think a lot of people choose cores that are not very well suited to their setup and that don't make efficient use of the air and space they consume because they are more concerned with the asthetics than the performance.

*now i'm going off on a tangent a little here but not bitching about anyone, just wanna clear up a misconception i deal with daily with people that come into my small little shop* And that's the fact that just because you've got a huge core that takes up the whole front end doesn't mean it's the best option.

Now i'm not complaining about anyone's choices, because that's their choice and really has no effect on me or my car's performance. But I think it's worth pointing out that there's a LOT of intercoolers that easily fit in the front with out losing fogs, cutting up too much metal or bumper cover and that will still support very large HP numbers..

Going with an IC way larger than what's really needed only adds to lag and decreases performance over a core that is properly sized to support the main HP goal of the build. Not to mention those HUGE cores that fill up the whole front of the bumper make your radiator barely able to do it's job since it's barely getting any air because of an oversized FMIC. If you're only shooting for 500 hp, then buying a core that's suited to 1200hp is going to be a loss in performance compared to one that's suited/designed for a goal of 600hp. it's like using a gt42r to make 300 HP.

But check out RRE's site and the "jumpers 2g install" i highly recomend this core and the spearco equivelant. It cools awesomely ( i see a max of 120 - 135* charge temps on a hot summer day after a 1st through 3rd gear pull,. And it leaves room for radiator flow as well and as mentioned supports up to 700hp ( I still have and use my AC and make 438 all day on boost with 503 on the 70 shot) ..

Once you see the size of it you'll be surprised how oversized most intercoolers being sold on ebay and seen in the "import scene" are.

I guess that's why there's always the cars out at the "gatherings" that look like they make 1000hp but get smoked by the guy that has the car that looks mostly stock with a smaller core and turbo but has the well thought out and put together combo.

The well thought out and put together cars are always the one's some body see's and thinks "i could smoke that car, look at that dinky core" only to be left making excuses of why they missed a gear or how their tune is off all the sudden.

Now if you're building your car for looks then by all means get the big bugger that fills the front, but if you're gonna DD the car and want the best performance possible. Find the Smaller core that suports a tad over your HP goal and that is efficient in that range of airflow. And not only will you be thanked with performance improvements but you're radiator and condensor will thank you for the air they get from not having the whole front blocked off as well.
