intercooler sitting to low

I bought a intercooler kit of ebay a few months back and have been working on installing it today. Outside of having to cut a little bit of piping of it fit together well, other than it sits really low. The way its set up is the turbo charge pipe goes through the stock smic location and wraps around the front and into the intercooler. If I move the intercooler up more I feel the piping would not fit. any ideas on what I can do? (the rock is there to keep it intercooler from leaning)

Make a bracket to hold it to the frame, grab a some one from lowes and make a hangar.

My recommendation would be to send that pile of engineering nightmare back and buy a different kit. Even a VRSF kit or Punishment would be a huge improvement over that kit and they're cheap. If you can foot the extra cost, just get an ETS kit and be done with it. Even if you get that core to sit properly, have fun getting the bumper back on. And how many feet of piping is that, 12?

Wholly wow, that's a lot of piping!!!

You can make what you have there work, you may just need to cut... A lot.

I would get some scrap angle iron/aluminum/steel... And mount the IC where you want it and start mocking up the piping from there.

If you tuck it in more and make the piping go behind the intercooler instead of in front, it could work. Do you have your a/c? You can make it a shorter route if you can somehow get the jpipe to ic to go behind. You might need to put the radiator back in and see how you can possibly make it work. There's really no reason the piping needs to go across the ic the way it does. With the bends you have and some cutting you can probably have a somewhat efficient setup with that core! Use your U bend and turn it so it goes between the radiator and turbo but low, and have it run till its near the jpipe location. Then make your piping from the jpipe go down to meet it simple as that bro!

Agreed. I had the same kit by the looks of it. Its a NIGHTMARE. For me it took a LOT of cutting and a J-Pipe ordered from MAP. I decided to cut the kit up and run a sort of short route. Instead of looping back around in front of the IC I used the U-Bend to dip under the car instead of going through the radiator bracket. Intercooler sat a lot higher and it was a lot neater.

I was looking into just cutting up the pipes and routing it differently. I have PR kit on my other car and had no problems with install but this kit cost me 230ish I believe so the price was not bad.

Theres nothing wrong with that unless you are trying to recirculate i to stock intake tube, the ETS kig faces the bov upside down as well.

yea I thought I would go cheap for the DD. Im thinking of just getting a regular jpipe and wrapping it around the driver side

its a 1g kit they have a picture of it fitting nicely on a 1g, didnt work out that way

It has different mounting points in that pic compared to yours! Yours is in the middle and there's is on the right or closer to the drivers side.

Also look like their setup has air in the I/C going left-to-right, where yours is right-to-left. Might be able to re-route some pipes and make it fit better.

^^ exactly was just posting that too!! Lol good catch! Your hotside is going into the right verses there's going into the left of the fmic. And your cold side is in the left verse there's coming across from the right!

Thats just a piping mess.... The pipe that goes across the front should go behind it and straight up to the turbo outlet.

Your front pipe should be routed like the bottom pipe i have pictured.

im just ordering a down firing j pipe and cutting that front pipe and mount it inside the engine bay facing the driver side and have the 180 bend go into the engine bay and connect to to

I was able to mount the inter cooler higher and I ordered the new jpipe and couplers and realized that there is not enough room to feed the pipe out the side of the driver side like I first intended. Pretty much am I going to have to order a shorter core and just run it though the opening on the side of the radiator like the punishment set up does?

I think you should just buy a kit that fits like most people here are saying. It is common knowledge that side to side intercoolers dont work on 1g's. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
