Interchangable?

I'm making this thread to help people ask questions, and people to answer those question to whats interchangable with what.

Let me start with the first question.

-Is a 95 (Talon) 4g63/t Radiator Interchangable with 95 (Eclipse) 420a??

Reason: When I bought my 95 Eclipse, the hood was dented w/ hood pins, and the radiator looks bent up at the top, so I got my hands on a Radiator of a 95 Talon that had a 4g63 w/ turbo (not sure if it was stock or not, but had ALOT of aftermarket parts)..
..anyways...can I swap it????

Short answer... nope.

Long answer, theoretically you can put any radiator into any car. Most all radiators are pretty basic and elementary in design - they're just simple heat exchangers. The only differences are that some have built in transmission fluid coolers for automatic transmission cars.

Anyway, if you have a radiator not meant for your car, you'll need to mount it properly (new custom brackets), connect properly (generic radiator hose), and attach the fans somehow (more custom brackets). If you're A/T, you'll need to get the transmission fluid lines to fit on the new radiator (more generic coolant or oil hose). As long as everything is connected right and there are no leaks, the radiator will do its job no matter what car it's in.

I should also mention that the radiator hoses on 4G63s and 420As are in different locations, so you'd need some pretty convoluted hose routes.

If you were just looking for a simple yes or no, though, then the answer is no. Almost no engine components are the same for both 4G63s and 420As - the radiator included...

To answer some of the ensuing questions in advance, suspension parts and exhaust parts (from the catalytic converter back) are interchangeable between the RS, GS, and GS-T 2G models.

Interior and exterior body components are interchangeable between the all models.

Brakes are interchangeable between all models.

Electrical connections and wire colors are usually the same with regard to universally present/available parts (i.e. taillights, moon roofs, speakers, etc), but otherwise they are different.

Obviously the engine, drivetrain and ECU are different between the models. This includes all engine wiring harnesses, fuel injectors, fuel rail, intake, downpipe, clutch, radiator, and accessories (power steering, alternator, air conditioning, etc.).

If in doubt, the GS-T has more in common with the GS and RS than the GSX (although I doubt you'll ever be scavenging parts off of a 2G GSX).

For the record, most suspension components, and even a few interior and exterior components (door handles, center console, etc.) are interchangeable between Eclipses and cloud cars (Stratus, Cirrus, Sebring) of the right year (roughly 1995-2002) and trim level.

I feel so stupid...I KNEW that I wouldnt be able to squeeze the 4g63 radiator in...I had a feeling they would be reversed locations...and they are...It was dark when I thought about it, and I never checked it, ### I was lazy, and hadnt came around it...Thanks for all the info though.
