Integra Type-R

I ran my buddys 97 LS at a local auto-x. It only had tokico blues, Tein S-Techs, Comptech rear sway bar, SRI, Type R header/full exhaust, SSR's with BFG KDW2's and DBA rotors/ Hawk pads/ SS lines.

For the short list of mods, and 170k on stock engine/ clutch/ trans, the car did amazing out on the track. A little over steer but nothing you can't handle.

I had an integra and they are decent cars but the theft rate especially in the tistate area is phenominally high. I would suggest going a different route. You will be apending a minimum of like 8 grand for that car probably. Get a 94 shell for around 1500 and do a K series swap for around 6500 and u will have a ton more power for around the same price. K series swaps are the best and most reliable motors for the hondas and acuras.:thumb:

That motor swap would also put it in SM, not a friendly place for a ~200hp car.

I dont have any problems with the ITR, just that I could never own one. When I race I like having to man-handle and control a car with a ton of power. The ITR, or other lightweight low-power cars like the miata for that matter, are just a little boring for me to drive. Yeah they can make some fast laps, but not in a fashion that fits me.

I personally will stick with the dsm/evos or corvettes.

my boy i knew from school has a white bubble, many thousands of dollars in upgrades, looks very very clean too. and since he put so much money into it he made sure not to let it get stolen. He shaved the doorhandles, put in a viper alarm with a security in-dash and outside camera, GPS locator, remote killswitch. He bought the most expensive steering wheel lock possible, and always drives around with tire locker thingys. Couple thousand in security and hey its been 2 and a half years he still drives around to events and stuff. if yor gonna get a fresh type R like that make sure to invest in alot of protection. taking the "Type R" logo off the back would help too ;)

Bummer you didn't like the car....most dsmr's that are used to an immediate surge of power are dissappointed in the acceleration. But, that's the only area that those cars fall short against a DSM.

They are momentum cars and as others have said, the handling characteristics are leaps and bounds over the dsm. Type R's in particular with hand built engines, swirl polished valves.....etc. While Sport Compact Car dubbed the EVO the #1 sport compact to come to the US, the Type R is definitely a stand out as well.

Chances are if you're not into autocross or running track days, you will not experience what the Type R has to offer, other than great drivability.

I have a '91 Galant VR4, and an '05 Integra RS 4 door. I love them both. They are obviously different in drivetrain. The Integra makes 53 less HP and 76 less TQ, but weighs about 630 lbs. less. Shifting the VR4 is like rowing a boat, shifting the Integra is not much more than a flick of the wrist. The VR4 struggles to rev, while the Integra revs quickly with great response.

Two different animals for sure. But, the fun factor on a scale of 1 to 10:

VR4 - 5

Integra - 8.5

I'd love to own a white Type R for sure. In the end you stayed with what you like best, and that's all that matters.

+1, But I don't think you can import such a new car to the US.

that car in good running shape will outperform most vehicles (including all dsms) on a autocross or roadcourse style track, they handle very well, are a fun high reving engine and can take abuse.

I used to be into honda's, I had a gsr that I bought completely stock and modified it for the road course, and sold it to a friend once I bought my talon and built it to go fast straight which is what I love. He still uses it on the roadcourse and its an excellent car, and It blew away my talon in the handling department, since its atleast 800lbs lighter.

El o El, 800lbs lighter? I think your a bit on crack. They are 2600-2800lbs depending on packages. It is a good 200-500lbs more depending on the dsm you pickup, heaviest gsx speced was 3186, and thats a 2g, 1gs are lighter.

However, the Type R is a magnificent machine, but would I trade for a dsm? No, not if I had already modded the dsm. But if you came in here, asking which to buy, a dsm or type-r for road racing. I would definitely advise the Type-R. Perfect car for autocross or road racing, simple, cheap, very good handling, and insanely cheap on consumables. However, at the money type-Rs command, an s2000, m3, etc are much better platforms for the same money, I ended up buying an e36 m3 for my track car.

I didn't say the car wasn't any good, I know it if I wanted it. I offered my 2006 Civic LX, a "lot more daily driver" for a guy that wanted a daily more confortable and all.
After discussion and road test He wanted too much money OVER the trade. I need a good daily for my work and travel LOTS LOTS LOTS of miles just to surf (yes a surfer form Montreal,LOL, :) ) So A type-R for daily use and traveling was another problem. It was in fact to REPLACE the Talon, and I'm like attached to my car having it for so many years and want to keep it, I just can't sell it. :) With everybody in my club changing engines and beeing in the garage for repairs for so long, in 9 years my DSM wasn't off road or track for more than a week and more than 200 000km on the stock 7 bolts motors having the time of my life with it.
Talk about having REAL fun with RELIABILITY. And they say it isn't reliable, haha... just know what to check and everything is fine. My buddies say's my cars as 9 lives like cats, very funny stuff, my stock 7 bolts as seen the most abuse as any DSM over Canada for sure, and as alway's held good, even going to drag nights 3 times a week for two years back in 2002-2003.

I liked the high revving engine of the type r but REPLACING my Talon for it? NOOOOOO WAY.

They are the most stole car pretty much since people swear they are the fastest cars put on this earth! haha Plus ## getting a type R dude yea if u get it really what out because its a great change it might be stolen. I live in Philadelphia and i know some people that steal honda and they pretty much take them ### sum one they know gave them a hook up on the master keys for pretty much all and any honda n acrua. They are nice but i dont know if ill ever get one ill b to scared of it been gone half the time haha

Not sure if someone has said this yet, but then why the #### have you not turned these pieces of shit in to the cops yet? If you know who these people are and are doing nothing to stop it. Your no better than they are, and you contributing to the destruction of our hobby.

I had a gsr and to me it needed a bit stiffer sus and sorter gearing

Aside from that it was a amazing car!

I dont care what anyone says

Boy was it a ton of fun and handled great!

Even with snow only tires the thing was great in the corners!

Now its not super car like, but it was "FUN"

Always wanted to drive a type r!

A type R is what a all hondas should have been like out of the factory LOL

GSR/typeR

Doesnt eat brakes, does not eat tires, does not over heat, can be beating the hell out of all day long

Likes RPM and as long as you can drive low end isnt a issue!

Drive a honda like a honda!

You dont drive it like a v8
