I have an extremely stupid problem that I have no idea why is happening.

The thread title is pretty much cut and dry, but it’s a silicone 3.25” coupler going to an FP Green/FP compressor cover. No matter how tight I make it, the little SOB will eventually wiggle itself off.

The car is on speed density so it’s not any issue with drive ability or etc, I’m just terrified of sucking in rocks or something in the engine bay when it pops off.

I have yet to try hairspray. That will be the next attempt. After that I’ve considered using rtv to glue the SOB on.

Not sure what advice I need, mainly just want to know if anyone else has struggled with this.

I straight up have grease on my coupler to slide it on but it has never slipped off. I am using an intercooler coupler hose clamp though and it's pretty dang tight. I guess I didn't know that could be a problem.

I am using an intercooler hose too. I think the problem is that the flange the coupler sits on, on the compressor housing is like 1/2” wide. Or less. It’s barely as wide as a worm clamp. A t bolt clamp is twice as wide and hangs off.

I’m wondering if I got one that wasn’t machined enough or something.

Yeah that sounds weird. Maybe you could get a guy to weld a lip on it so it can't slip off. Otherwise the easy and cheap solution would have to be your idea. Something sticky to get it to hold?

Use a hump hose coupler instead or get one of those semi (radiator hose) rubber couplers. That's all I used in my 1G. Had way too many issues with silicone couplers failing. Find the root cause. Is the intake and air filter supported in some other way other than being held by the coupler? Vibration especially in a stick car with constant aggressive shifts will make it walk around some.

I"ve heard of using hair spray on hoses to keep them from coming off. But it sounds like yours doesn't have any girth for the coupler to hold on to....
