intake manifold gasket

i was told that there is a intake manifold gasket out there that makes your manifold stay cold and not heat up? anyone hear or know about it> i need it for the 420a engine thanks guys

Ok im not 100% sure on this...but i dont believe a gasket can have any real effect on cooling of an intake manifold. Its just a gasket afterall.

Are you sure youre not thinking of a thicker than normal gasket or something?

I dont believe that really exsists, with a thicker gasket you might help it a LITTLE but nothing to worry about. The reason it really even heats up is because of the engine. Alot of the newer cars have the Plastic intake manifolds and they never get hot, just warm from the engine.

It is not a gasket. It is called a phenolic spacer. It spaces the intake manifold of of the head to isolate it from heat.

I believe Hondata makes one for the 4G63. It has been discussed on this board so a search may provide more light on the subject.

I believe what you are talking about is the EGR block-off mod. What you do is make a template of the EGR gasket out of aluminum, and sandwich that between the gasket and the intake mani. Therefore, the EGR ( Exhaust Gas Recirculator ) which recycles hot exhaust gases into the intake mani, is blocked off, which reduces intake temps greatly.

Keep in mind that your car will no longer pass emissions if you have emissions tests where you live. But its an easy mod, and I saw my intake temps at idle and under throttle drop pretty drastically.

In a sense yes, but its more of a block-off plate. Keep in mind, this is NOT for the intake manifold, its for the EGR pipe. It a small kinda diamond shaped gasket that you need to make a template for.
