Installing springs seems pretty straight forward. But I was wondering if a spring compressor is needed? I have never installed lowering springs nor have I ever replaced a spring in a DSM period.

I am buying some Eibach Sportline springs this week and am looking for what I should expect. What are some problems I may or may not run into? Is it just a simple swap? Any modifications to the struts, etc. needed? Any write ups on this? Thanks.

You can rent a spring compressor form your local auto parts store..It is not needed( if you have alot of experiance), but for your safety I would suggest just renting the spring compressor..I've seen a spring shoot out before and you dont want to be on the receiving end of that..You might also want to think about getting a 4 wheel allignment..All suspension mods should include a wheel allignment..

Thanks for the replys. I have heard multiple people say a spring compressor was not needed. But, I am wanting to do this safely. Anyone know roughly how much parts stores charge to rent out a spring compressor?

Also are there any write ups on here? I have searched ALOT but maybe I missed something.

Just to give you an idea of the force behind those springs. We saw one shoot two blocks when a neighbor was changing his shocks and struts on his truck. It was a great angle sure, but it was still freakin awesome!

Be careful when you are using it to make sure it can't slip off.

Damn LOL. Yea like I said, I want to do this as safe as possible. Thanks for the tip man!
