installing header please help

Still new to the DSM world so please bear with me

I had a crack in the stock header so i bought a knockoff megan racing header. I'm not on here to talk about different types of headers and whats better then others. I just would like to know how i can make the one i have fit. Its a 420a header so i know it'll fit but connecting it to the down pipe is my problem. I have stock down piping which i believe is 2 inches, the new header is 2 1/4 roughly (not too sure how accurate my measuring is). The header will slide over the piping just fine but it is a hard fit because of the fan guards, the header is right against it and needs to be moved down about an inch more to bolt up. Do i need to cut some of the down piping and get a collector? I guess my question is how do i attach the new header to the stock piping. (there are places for a bolt to slide through on both sides of the header)

I bought a full Header to muffler setup on Ebay once for the wife's old GS. It was dirt cheap & easy to install.

You might take a picture of what you are working with.

You need to unbolt the down pipe from the block. That will give you wiggle room.
You should also pull the fan off until the header is on.
From there you should be able to bolt the header to the head. Then bolt the header to the down pipe.
Finally bolt the down pipe to the block and bolt the fan back onto the radiator.

the headers should come with their own down pipe.
you shouldnt be trying to use the stock downpipe with headers. it just wont work without modification.

Some actually do work with the stock downpipe
