I want to save some money on labor. The timing belt job I think I will leave to a pro. I do want to install the head my self (head gasket job) everything is attached on the head and ready to go. the plastic timing cover is on etc

any tips on how to set the head other what the Manuel says
I'm off to buy one right now...........

It's pretty self explanatory if you know a little about doing it. The block has line-up pins/sleeves that the head will set right down on when you re-install it and then all you have to do is put the bolts in, unless you're using studs, and torque it to the specs in the maual. I agree with PR as it's easier to remove the head and intake all at once than try to get to the bolts on the back side. Will save you lots of time. The timing belt isn't that hard to do either but if you're not comfortable doing it than I'd suggest taking your advice and leaving it to someone who does.

reinstalling is simple. Just place on block, install studs or bolts, hook everything back up but maybe an extra person would be nice to help stabilize the head onto the block because you do not wanna scratch the head surface on the head to block dowels because if a groove is made your head gasket may not seal it and you might have to do it all over again.
