Installation of Crower camshafts, springs and retainers

Hi,

i've installed the BC springs and retainers but forgot to observe how the rocker arm were installed, i also forgot how to install camshaft caps.

can anyone please let me know
- where the arrow on camshaft caps should be pointing at? i know that numbers start from cam gears and I stands for Intake and E for Exhaust. but forgot where the arrows should be pointing at.
- there were some numbers and alphabets on the rocker arm. do they have specific numbers for specific cylinders? or i can install them anywhere?

Urgent replies will be appreciate as i have to wrap up tomorrow.

i searched and found out that those arrows should point outwards.

now i only need to know how to install rocker arms.

The rockers aren't specific to any one valve. Do you need torque specs or camshaft install questions too or is that it?

Caps are numbered and directional all arrows point the same way, rockers just sit one end on the valve and one end on the lifter and they can go on any valve.

Also be VERY careful when tightening the cam cap bolts as they break pretty easy.

what torque specs do you recommend for re-tightning the same bolts for cam caps.

There's no torque order on the cam cap bolts but 14-15 ft/lbs is the torque spec. Before you install the rockers first make sure the cams are going to rotate smoothly by dropping the camshaft in there and tighten the cam caps. After doing this, with the rockers out, you should be able to turn the camshaft freely with your hand. Then pull the cam caps/cams out and install the rockers, drop the cams in there (make sure the dowels are both pointing up), and then tighten down the cam caps.

You using assembly lube during installation?

^Yes im using it.
i've torqued the cams to 26nm with rocker arm installed.

Can i still rotate it?
i didnt bleed the lashers though, but that wont be a problem

As long as you didn't soak the lifters you shouldn't have to worry about bleeding them (although I usually do as a precaution).

i just cleaned them/washed them with diesel.

Bleed the lifters if you haven't buttoned everything up yet, if ones stuck you'll bend a valve. Once you initially start the motor it will be loud as hell because there won't be any oil in the lifters. Just let it warm up and go for a drive to increase oil pressure and get oil up in the head, this will quiet the lifters once they fill up with oil again.

What if I don't bleed them?
My cams etc are already packed

Nothing will happen if the lifters are in good working order however, if one gets stuck up you'll bend a valve.

If you didn't immerse them in any fluid, just cleaned up the outside, then they should be OK.

You can always just look at the position of all the valves in relation to the position of the cam lobe, to see if any of them is compressing the valve spring more than the rest.
