Springs and Retainers.....Are they really necessary???

I' planning on buying the BC 264s or the Comp 101200s within the next 7 days. I don't plan on revving past 7k. Do I really need the upgraded spring/retainer kit? I've searched but, I've come up with mixed results. I don't have a chip or DSMLink if that makes a difference. Sorry for asking such a newbish question. Some ads for these cams say drop-in and some say the kit is required. I don't have a chip or DSMLink if that makes a difference. The rest of my mods are in my profile. Thanks for the help.

I reved it to 7500rpm daily with the comp200's with no problems! Loved the upper power too.

BC doesn't make 264's they make 272's and 280's.

You don't really need them unless your planning on revving over 8000 RPM's.

I just ordered a set of B.C. 272/272 cams today. Now I am VERY interested in $70 springs!!!!!

Nothing a chip can't fix.If you so desire.
I dont see you needing to worry about your rev limiter tho.Maybe fuel cut.
