inovative o2 placement on dp

i have been contemplating this, i have full exhaust system but wanted to keep the front factory o2 in the o2 housing and weld a bung in the very beginning of the dp for the innovative o2 sensor. are there any pro's and cons of placement or keeping the factory o2 sensor?

As long as you put the sensor between 9 and 3 o'clock so it doesnt collect moisture youll be fine putting it in the downpipe.

keep your stock narrow band o2 sensor. Most wideband's can simulate the narrow band signal for the factory ecm but, they dont do a very good job causing service codes or other issues. Get a new sensor bung welded in at the degree as suggested above down stream from the factory narrow band sensor and you'll be perfect. On a gst you have more options to have a bung welded in were on a gsx the options are limited. Just make sure it's before the flex pipe on the down pipe.

Most people keep their facotry o2 sensor/s (2 for obd2).

The people, including myself, who are running a narrowband simulation off of our widebands remove out factory o2 sensor because they are not needed anymore, due to the simulation signal produced by our widebands. Contrary to popular belief, you can place the wideband in the stock o2 sensor location without excessive heat destroying it.

If you do not have a way to simulate narrowband o2 signal then you need to keep you stock o2 sensor, it feeds that narrowband signal to your ecu.

Your profile says you are running ECMlink v3, I would use your tuning solution and simulate that narrow band. Place the wideband you have in the stock location and feed it to the ecu for datalogging.

I put mine a little before the flex section. Been fine for me there. You can still log it in link but if i had link I would simulate so I say go that route.

OP - Simulating the NB signal will work just fine, either with your Innovative software or ECMLink. I personally use ECMLink to simulate the NB from my 0-5v WB input, and prefer that method because there is less wiring and one less piece of software to open up and configure. I have the sensor mounted just before the flexpipe, but I've also run it in the stock location with no issues as Lawrence mentioned.

Another advantage to using ECMLink to generate the NB signal directly from the 0-5v WB input, is that it frees up the front O2 input which be used to log something else. (I use mine for logging fuel pressure).

I've been using mine in the front o2 sensor location for about 2 years now without issue. Switched to a new controller and still using the old sensor just fine.
