impossible, linkage and fmic piping??

I just finished installing my evo BIG 16G turbo yesterday. I took the eclipse out for a drive yesterday to make sure everything worked before I put the bumper back on. First thing I noticed was that it was not shifting to 2,4 or reverse. Fine, so I took out my intake and realized the linkage could not move to those gears because it was hitting my FMIC piping. Where my J pipe meets my other piping. Now the problem is my J pipe doesnt line up with my FMIC piping like it did with my ebay evo 3 16G turbo. It does go straight down, but barely connects to the other one because the angle is so off. I'll get a pic if anyone wants me to. So I was wondering the j pipe I have now was modded (welded) by the last guy to fit that ebay turbo (but ive been told regardless of the real or ebay turbos the J pipe fits the same). So my next best guess is buy one, but I was hoping to get it local. Reason being is because I want the car done with. I bought it about a month ago and drove it once (yestereday) to test drive, other than that I havent drove it at all. Its been problem after problem, especially fixing all the last dumbass kid's hack job.

cliff questions:

1. Has anyone had this problem before?

2. Is it needed to have the j pipe modded to fit on these aftermarket 16G turbos with a FMIC

3. Someone local have an unmodded one for sale that I could maybe pick up tomorrow?

4.Any other questions or feedback you have.

um the j-pipe on a 16g should be no where near the shift cables... as a matter of fact none of your intercooler piping should be close to hitting the shift cables/linkage, and are you sure its your linkage that is the problem?.. that would make sense but it also might not be the problem... i had the same thing happen to me about a year ago, turned out to be some kind of bearing or something that got bent in the transmission i don't remember exactly what it was b/c I had Shep fix it for me

edit see how the pipe doesnt really line up forcing it to hit that? It lined up on the last turbo, and nothing changed, I dont get why it doesnt line up now

wow... ya that is your j-pipe hitting the linkage... i've never seen that before that j-pipe looks kinda weird to me.. but still it might not even be your linkage that is the problem..

Its hitting it for sure, checked with someone else shifting in the car. Cant shift into 2 4 or reverse but can into 1 3 and 5. shifting into the lower gears just hit the pipe. Thats a brand new rebuilt turbo from jusmx141 on here. I just dont get why it doesnt line up like it originally did. You can see how the j pipe is modded too in the last pic. Idk if there was a reason for that or not

The thread title says "fmic piping." You might be using a j-pipe angled for the stock SMIC and trying to match it with FMIC piping or vice-versa but I can't tell for sure.

As far as the shifting goes you can cut off the big heavy end of the counterweight. It's not something you need. I didn't notice any change in shifter feel after I cut mine off.

I agree it looks to me like you are using a SMIC jpipe. If you get one for a FMIC it'll be angle towards the driver side.

That looks like a Dejon Jpipe. But yea looks like it's for a SMIC. It's weird that you said it worked on your last 16g.

Looks like a COP-JL will be your best bet, but looking at those stock fans, you may not even have enough room.
