So i have been driving my car all day...get home cut it off and go inside. come back out bout a hour later to leave jump in press the clutch in and turn the key..the motor turns over twice. then my thumb slips off the key and it stops turning over. i go to start it back up and i get nothing...all my lights come on but when i have clutch pressed in and i go to crank the car all i get is the fuel pump whining. I tested the wire going to the starter and i got no power going to the starter. so i test the lead going to the starter relay and it has constant power at all times but when i go to start it i thought i should have another power going to it when i crank the car.. is my ignition switch bad? or am i missing something.. im really confused and i gotta have it running for work on monday...please help me

i disconnected that... but does the same thing as if i was pressing in the clutch..all you hear is the fuel pump.. no starter no nothing. i just dont understand. i ordered the ignition switch waiting for it to come in should be here soon. im gonna try that and hope and pray that fixes it. anymore ideas??

Since it wasn't your clutch switch, rather than ordering a ignition switch, you could have wired in a push button that would start your car. My ignition switch died on the dyno and luckily the shop I was at had a push button laying around that we were able to use. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/appearance-interior-exterior/56459-push-button-start-merged-11-07-a.html

It was a quick and easy fix thats a lot cheaper than getting a new ignition switch. You've still got to put the key in the ignition but only turn it to 'ACC', then push the button you wired up and it should start cranking.

Just for testing sake you should check proper battery voltage (12v +/- 1v) and make sure that isn't your problem too.

Ok so i went and got the switch.. installed it and it does that same thing.. So i started from square one again. tested everything over again and im glad i did.. this has totally turned around now. first place i went was the starter. i got someone to try starting it as i used a test like on the little wire and sure enough i have power going to the starter but no clicking or anything coming from the starter....SOOO bad starter right???... but what confuses me is.. when you turn the key to the on position shouldnt you be able to hear ## fuel pump prime? mine isnt..only time you hear the pump come on is when you try and start it...weird right? so is my pump bad? and the starter? im so confused
