Black/White wire on ignition switch getting hot and smoking when key turned "on"...?

This wire is getting to hot and almost started my car on fire last night...I turned my key "on" and a bunch of smoke started coming from the bay...ran and unplugged the battery and ripped apart the harness and its that random weird ground wire with that connector so I cut the wire at the ignition switch, traced it all the way back to that and cut again and re grounded it underneath the dash..turn key "on" and same thing. but its just that wire?
 
I think its cause I didn't wire in a new starter relay when I went to install my pushbutton..what do you guys think? I bypassed the relay cause it was blown and pretty much wired a whole new ignition, should I throw a relay in there?

can anyone chime in here please this one has me stumped. the search feature works very nice just as google does but I cant find any similar threads..
 
I believe the black/white wire is the supply wire to the acc when the switch is turned to that point. That's why it would smoke/get hot/pop fuses if you ground it out. Just like in the other thread that you had posted in, that the guy had a pinched wire at the coil. If you download the files I sent a link to, it should explain this and help you track/place everything down and help you bypass anything you want. The push button should just be a signal to the starter. You would still need a switch of some sort (ignition/toggle) in order to have everything else turn on. I believe that is where the B/W wire comes into play. Maybe someone with more info could chime in but, if you haven't already, Download the Electrical files from Download Useful Files - SymTech Laboratories. The DSM electrical files are for both turbo and non turbo. Very helpful, useful information.
 
I don't know what to tell you as far as relay or jump. I would retrace the entire wire tuck to make sure that you didn't cross any wires. It seams like you are having a lot of electrical issues so that is where I would start.
 
that was the first thing I did I found my short and fixed it and im pretty sure I shorted out the relay in doing so, that's why I was asking if I should go ahead and wire in a new starter relay
 
The black/white wire in the ignition harness is "ignition 1". It should only have 12v in the On and Start positions. Your wires should be protected against something like this with a fuse rated under the amp capacity of your wire based on its diameter. And yeah, I'd replace the relay.
 
turns out relay is okay, I plugged it in and it clicks when trying to be started, therefore my lights and everything are on. now its just a no start problem, im going to check my spark because I put new plugs in and they didn't have ngks so I got these other ones I need to make sure they are gapped properly
