Wire to tap into to turn fuel pump on when key is turned

Could i run a 8 gauge wire or( different gauge) to a switched source for my fuel pump? so it turns on when the key is "on"

yeah i re wired it fine, just working on getting it to come on when the car is in the "on" postion. Im going to take 10 gauge wire, run it from the signal wire on the fuel pump connector to a switched source via add-a-fuse, its a fuse with a wire coming out.
