I currently am running a Walbro 255lph in-tank pump and would like to add an addtional Walbro 255lph in-line pump. My question is, what is the best way to wire this second pump. Should I use a relay and if so, where should I run the other wires besides the power and ground? The car is driven a lot on the street and I do not want to run an external pump, so don't even mention it. Also, please don't tell me people have made over 600whp with a single Walbro 255lph in-tank, I know they have. I actually know two people personally who have done this but I want to run two pumps. Thanks in advance.

or maybe he is getting ready to run more than 600, but currently does not have that power. IT DOESNT MATTER HOW MUCH POWER HE HAS, just stick to the question he asked.

I too am curious as to how you do this.

You'll need to wire it similarly to how many people rewire their single pumps. First, you need a relay that can handle the current that both pumps will draw. Connect the coil on the relay to the stock fuel pump harness. Connect both pumps in parallel and ground them directly to the chassis. Run their power through the relay then straight to the battery.

You'll need a 60 amp relay and 60 amp in-line fuse (they use 30 amps for a single pump). I'd recommend 8-gauge power wire to run the pumps. Then just use the original power for the fuel pump to activate the relay.

Here is the VFAQ for a single pump rewire on a 2G FWD. Should be useful for your project.

Ok not trying to change topic but I am searching and wondering what is wrong with an external pump? Such as the Aeromotive 1000hp? Is there a guide to this?

External pumps are usually very loud (you thought your 255 was loud). They also either require the use of a fuel cell, or you need to sump your stock tank. Plus if done correctly, using a lifter pump and another pump inline can flow just as much as an A1000 etc.

how do you line up the fuel lines with two pumps. Im thinking about going with two supra pumps as they are bigger pumps and aren't as loud. do you really just cut the fuel line and stick the second pump in there? anyone care to make a paint doc for me?

And thanks to everyone else you made suggestions. I talked with Nate at SB and he recommend I use two relays, one for each pump.

One pump will be in-tank (stock location). The second pump will be in-line and if you are not running braided hose with -AN fittings like I am, then you would just cut the fuel line and put it in there. The in-line pump is different then a in-tank pump so the Supra pump cannot not be ran in-line.

rejuvinate an old post. But if you didn;t mind the noise of an inline...could you run an inline set up with the stock intank? or should both be upgraded. Only reason I ask is I'm planning for my 50 trim and there will be no getting the stock pump out. New England winters have killed the nuts on the sending unit. I figured if I could just do some sort of inline maybe it would function.

if i get an inline there wont be a problem with the stock being too restrictive? I figure the Aero 1000 is a little overkill but maybe the walbro 255 inline or the Bosch 44 like mentioned before. I just want to make sure the stock intank isnt going to cause problems for me before i go this route. Not sure if it makes a difference or anything but the stock is rewired.
