Ignition Problem

so i got my eclipse running again today (was pumped). I had the car idling and i got out to close the hood and went i close the hood the car shutoff. So i went back to try and start it and had no power, i check the batter was all good all connection are good. I looked at my fuse box and the ignt fuse was blow, i replaced it and i went to turn the key, had ignt power for about 2 seconds and blew another fuse.... i checked the wires with volt tester and what i seem to found is the ignt is going to ground and not cycling right. It continues to blow fuses. Not sure whats going on ... help please!!!

Gotta find where the ignition system is grounding out then. Check the power cables to see it they're grounded. Check all for corrosion.

is there any kind of relays that causes the polarity to change? or do i just gotta follow that wire the whole way from the fuse box to my ignition?

Gonna have to follow the wires. If lucky, it could turn out to be the ignition switch.

alright thanks, it was just weird that it happened when i shut my hood...

would that lead you to beleive it is a wire up front under the hood? cause idk were to start

I see your point there, but the ignition system is in the steering column. Beyond that, it's the ECU, wire harness, starter, and ignition fuse. You may have to disassemble part of the fuse box to see if there's anything loose inside it. Something is grounding out and that's all I can really think of that the hood may have an impact on. Does it do this when you drop the hood only, or will it happen it you gently set the hood down and push it shut?

Yesterday i put a new ecu in it. It was runing fine. I shut my hood and it stopped the car. I unhooked ecu, found the ignt fuse blew so i put another in. Did not hook the ecu up yet. Turned the key and it blew that fuse in 2seconds. Im not even cranking the motor just turming key to on.

That alone should narrow it down. Since it blows in the on position,( very first position right) then the short is on that circuit. Should still be a short to ground, and not a short to voltage.

So follow the ground coming from the ignt switch??

Sorry, got side tracked with a few errands. Yeah, follow the wire(s) as best you can. Look for breaks, cracks, burns, and exposure.
