ignition problem

When i put the key in the ignition the gauges do not come on nor does anything else that usually is triggered by the ignition. Today i put a 255 walbro fuel pump on and when i put it back in the car, some kindof sensor or valve broke off that clips to the top of the plate on the gas tank. But i still wanted to see if the car would still run, so i tried starting it an it would just turn over. So i tried a second time an the problem began.

Sensor clip...As in maybe the sending unit wiring? Or the fuel pump wiring? If it would just crank and not start it sounds like you messed up the pump wiring.

As for everything else not working now...Check all the fuses, etc. As well as the battery posts and connections. It's probably something stupid.

i got it thanks.. it was the engine fuse busted an the ground was broken. I dont know why the pump wasn't workning i took it out and put it back in and it's doin fine now. thanks

The fuel pump gets powered from the ignition fuse on the positive battery terminal.
If you short out the fuel pump power feeds by over tightening the nuts when changing the pump and crack the plastic insulator it will blow the fuse.
