Ignition coil arcing between towers

I have a problem with my 93 Eagle Talon ES with a 2.0 l

My ignition coil is arcing between the towers for the #1 and #4 cylinders this was going on while I was driving and I was loosing power it exentually burned out that side of the coil. I only noticed it after removing the coil for visual inspection.

I swapped the power connector from the burnt side to the good side #2 and #3 cylinders and it began arcing on that side showing it was not just a bad coil on the one side.

I have purchased a replacement coil and power transistor but havent installed them yet.

Has anyone seen this before and what could possibly cause this ?

Well, here it is I replaced the coil and ignition module and still the arcing persisted. So I did something dangerous and started using my brain.

In high school they said electricity always takes the easiest path to the ground. Yup you guessed it bad ground.

I replaced the ground wire on the ignition module and coil, Bam problem solved, running smoothly now. I will have to check the ground from the battery to the frame and the engine block to the frame tomorrow. Sounds like loads of fun but at least the problem is resolved.

I wanted to thank all the people posting and responding here I got alot of good advice and places to start.
