my idle is horible misses and everything. idles at 1400 rpms with like 20 degrees of timing (says the scanner). running rich as hell. 10-12in/hg vac. Ive tested a bunch of stuff iac is good. throttlebody is rebuilt, passes boost leak test until today i tested my ignition coils. they both read like 2.0 ohms on primary side, the secondary side is perfect. can the ignition coil really be causing all of this.

Maybe try setting your base idle and Ignition timing.

To set your base idle you need to, using alligator clips, ground out the pin under the hood ( http://members.shaw.ca/dsm.1000q/Engineprimer/1G/timingconn.htm ) along with pin #10 in your diagnostic port under your dash, With the car off of course.

Turn the car on adjust the biss screw ( and CAS if necessary for proper idle). Once it is right around 750rpm turn the car off. Then unground the #10 pin under the dash. Turn the car back on and adjust the CAS for proper ignition timing. When that is right turn the car off and unground the pin under the hood. Tighten the CAS Then turn the car back on and all should be good.

Edit: Just Realized you have a 2G.... Never mind

something else i might have misread, I heave a 6 bolt head on a 7 bolt block, i am using the 2nd gen cam sensor, can i still use the 2nd gen coil pack. do i have to do a wire or injector swap with this set up. I didnt think the method you described above was possible on my 2g

ok i just retimed the engine. I started the car i got the usual 1400 rpms, but this time i have 18in/hg vacuum so its an improvement. everytime i go to adjust the throttle stop or the biss screw or the tps it automatically adjusts to idle at 1400 rpms with 20 degrees of timing, I dont get it.
