Idle/Timing Problem

Ok, so I havent posted here in a while since my last DSM decided to eat it. I recently purchased a 92 Plymouth Laser Turbo. It didnt run when I bought it but now fires up after I changed the computer, coolant temp sensor, and cleaned the ISC. The car runs but wont idle for anything. After buying another datalogger I noticed the timing was advanced anywhere from 5 degrees to 40. Just curious if this would cause it to run like crap and not idle. Feel free to ask me anything that I could clear anything up with, trying to get this thing running better so I can put the clutch in it and drive it finally.

If you're using mmcd the 40deg advanced at idle is an error, idk what the deal is with it, but itf you were at 40 advanced at idle, your face would explode. But your cas may be going bad, someone chime in and explain how you check to see if its bad, cause im not too sure, unless you just have a spare layin around.

Does your car die when idleing or does it just surge( go up and down)?

The car really doesnt surge at all. When I start it up it usually revs up a bit then slowly falls back down to about 800-1kish then spudders for a sec then cuts out. I wouldnt even know if you could call what my car does idling.
