I am havin a problem w/ my timing, i think*

I cant get my idle below like 1100 rpm, and my timing always seems too far advanced. I recently found that my knock sensor wire was ripped out of the sensor, but i put it back in the best i could...could this be my problem?

I also found that my radiator had some blockage so i will be installing a fluidyne later this week. I figured this would cause the engine to overheat as well but the ex manifold was het hot but the coolant temp wasnt above like 150-160 F

Thanks in advance

How are you measuring timing? Datalogger?

If the KS is not hooked up properly (or missing) your ECU wil detect it and for "safety" hit you with 8 KnockSum whenver you hit the gas.. which will retard timing and kill performance.

Check the thermostat. They fail open which would cause your Temps to remain low.

Also when you set your Base Timing to 4 BTDC did you remember to ground the Ign Plug on the firewall and disconnect the fans (plug only)?

Also check to make sure the Cruise Control Cables are adjusted correctly (i.e. can bind causing the throttle plate to open at idle).

If everything else checks out.. adjust your BISS to get your Idle down to 750RPM.

so you are suggesting i just replace the knock sensor

also, what do you mean by this
to ground the Ign Plug on the firewall
what do i have to ground to the firewall?...

i set the timing with a timing light but i just said it feels like the timing is bein pulled, i dont have any logging to confirm that...when i give it ANY gas it bucks and sputters and carrys on like a sonofab**ch
