Timing And Idle??????

i had to replace the water pump on my tsi 7 bolt since it was leaking i redid the timing while i was at it and whent trough the guide and got everything perfect i believe.....the only thin i dont remeber doing is compressing the auto tensioner pin thing i just put it back on everything lined up perfect......my car idles fine same as before but now the engine seems much louder for the speed im going like it sounds like im revving it on neutral while i press on the gas....its an automatic by the way could it be that before my car wasnt timed right that it felt a little more sluggish or did i advance timing or something by not compressing the little thing.....im out of ideas kinda sounds like my downpipe may be a little loose i dont know because it sounds like a whole different motor....help please

How where you able to put the tensioner back in without compressing it and pinnin it down?
Only way you could of messed up the markings is trying to put the belt on and it moved a little.
But you said there no knock so you should be alright.

I JUST PUT IT ON THERES A LITTLE ROOM BETWEEN THE PIN AND THE PULLEY ARM LIKE 1TO 2MM....EVERYTHING WHENT IN SMOOTH....COULD MY IGNITION TIMING BE TOO ADVANCED ....the car does not misfire or anything i hear no knocking

Only way your ignition timing would be off is if you had a 1g cam angle sensor set to advance your timing. I still don't understand how you did your timing and i would definitely pull it apart and do it right.

Sounds like you're off a tooth on your timing. Line all the marks up and check them with a straight edge.

You are going to have to RE-do the timing again. Did you use a NEW belt? If you have a new belt it is going to strech which is normal. It is the auto tensioners job to take up that slack from the belt stretching. If your auto tensioner is already extended it will not be able to take up the slack in the belt. Resulting in belt skipping and bent valves.
