From everything I read Idle surge is pretty common in dsms. The problem I have is when I first start the car in the mornings it surges from 1.5 to 2 rpms until the motor warms then it drops to 1. Now I dont know anything about cars and reading to adjust this or that or check this or that, I have no clue. And instead of going to mechanic and paying an arm and a leg to check everything screw that. Does the surge cause any performance problems? Am I losing anything by it?

I would first check the tps adjustment and the isc motor. If there are no really bad boost leaks then you can pretty much narrow it down to the fiav which usually causes cold start surge problems if it's bad. Do some searching on here and it will have the proper check and adjustment procedures for everything. My guess would be a bad fiav which means you'd have to find a throttle body with a good fiav and swap them or at least swap the bottom halves of the throttle bodies. The idle surge most likely won't cause any major damage, however it should still be fixed.

Dude, did you read my post? I have no clue about cars, or whats what. Im ok with the surge because its only when I first start the car in the mornings and never anytime else. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't losing anything because of it.
