I think I may have a boost leak I can't find, since the car hesistates in 2nd & 3rd gear, along with shutting off upon slowing down rapidly in neutral. already checked the BOV (IS recirculated) and the IAC has perfect resistance.

I've always tested at the turbo's intake inlet, but I've seen multiple threads where it was a recommendation to put the tester at a different location, such as the throttle body elbow, to test TB & injector seals? before I got a rebuilt TB, I discovered leaky TB shaft seals from testing at the turbo but never any injector leaks.

what's the idea behind testing at the elbow? I know its to bypass the turbo and or intercooler but why? to build more pressure?

thanks in advance

If you test at the TB elbow, you are bypassing the turbo and all the intercooler pipes, just like you said. It will help narrow down where the boost leak is coming from if it isn't in the IC piping. It's easier to tell where it's coming from without having to worry about it being in the IC piping.
