I recently just recirculated my Greddy type R which I love the sound of. But since I recuirculted I can hardly hear it even at high boost. What are some solutions so I can hear it more? Better filter, GM MAS ??????

Like fwdmaster said get hard intake/intercooler piping. I have a type s that's recirculated and I can hear it pretty well at 15psi with hard piping.

Yup! I have a knock off type s and its recirculated. I have a hard UICP right now and It was loud enough to make the ricers leave me alone and the mustang boys know that its not a toy. When I got the Poly mounts I couldnt hear it nor the turbo very well due to the vibrations and it made the car louder inside.

I'd rather hear the turbo spooling in between shifts than the bov. #### the bov sound, I have other things I need to hear inbetween shifts to make sure things are stayin together. Besides its a cop magnet especially when you cant keep out of boost with the stock turbo and there is a cop right next to you while you accelerate from a stop at an intersection. Not good.

No, i don't enjoy the sound of my exhaust...i still have my cat on. My car is one of the biggest sleepers on this fourm. SBR fully built long block, big16g at 18psi, tre stage 2 with lsd, stock sidemount because YOU DO NOT need a front mount on a 16g.

Hey man i had the same problem with my bov. I changed the recirc pipe and it sounded a lil better, but yet not to my likeing so i took off the recycle line and vented it and played with the soft and hard setting on it. try it see if you like it

Ok after reading all the posts on here and looking at your mod list its time for a tuning tool anyway. The MAFT might be a good start for you. You can vent with it inline and it will give you the option of running bigger injectors and getting more performnce out of your car. If you upgrade to link or whatever you can use it there too. It is a good start and will get you what you want.

The 2g MAF is more than sufficient from a performance stand point and it seems like a waste to upgrade to the GM MAFT just so you can vent. I don't know, maybe that's just me though. To each his own I guess.

All I know is my car is more than loud enough and I have my BOV recirculated.

i would like to beg to differ.
you may have one of the biggest 'eclipse sleepers'
but a total rust bucket eclipse (not saying yours is), is still not as surprising as a VR-4.
sorry, but your not gonna see me comin.

back to subject

I also want to vent, is there any gm mas that is any better than any other? i can just grab one for nothing at a local yard, then just run ecm with cable

I have my bov to atmosphere and not really a big deal to me but i had no choice til i can move the bov close to the intake pipe. I don't recomend venting but if you do anyway, make sure it's not open/leaking at idle.

I can't believe this thread's still open for discussion.

If anyone hasn't learned by now:

- If you want your BOV to be louder, don't waste $200+ on an expensive blow off valve....buy a used 1G BOV for $20 and use the money you save to do the correct supporting mods to enable you to run more boost.

- If you vent your BOV with a draw-thru MAS, you obviously care more about sound and appearance than performance and function. This is the calling card of a ricer.

- If you buy a $200+ blow off valve and a $200+ GM MAS and Translator setup for the sole reason of venting your BOV, you have a seat reserved on Defiant's Short Bus:

how is using a gm maf mean you dont care about performance?

I recently just recirculated my Greddy type R which I love the sound of.

You don't have a "Type R" you have a Type RS.

And to mountaineerjeff, "draw-thru MAS" is the same as stock. Even if you are using a GM MAFT setup, if it is in a draw-thru setup you are doing it wrong if you want to vent.

AND, having a super short route doesn't mean you can't recirculate....I am on mine and I'm using the stock tube.

It has nothing to do with performance if you're using it for the sole purpose of venting your BOV.

Someone who buys a junk Greddy aftermarket BOV, GM MAS, and Translator then takes the time to couple it into their intercooler piping while running a T25 obviously isn't concerned about overrunning their stock 2G MAS.

So a vented BOV is ricey on this site??? Big wing's, lot's of sticker's and the GT-R sticker on the side of a Honda are rice!!! and those car's don't have any boost to vent. I don't realy care if your riding around with slick's and chute hanging off of the back, IT'S A ECLIPSE!!!..

I have more fun riding around in my poofing, whisting, boosted, 4 banger than my 500+WHP mid 10 sec TR, the T-Type is boring to drive around, slush box, no BOV and it's a sleeper!!!!

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's Automotive and get some hard drain pipes and rubber couplers. It shouldnt be too difficult to build a hard return pipe. My stock BOV is recirculated and its plenty loud inside the car for me.

VTA is rice and noob unless done properly. Period. No stock maf stock ecu shit should VTA.
If its working correctly then who cares what it sounds like. Be happy your not annoyed from it going off ever second.

Recirculate it to your speakers.

Open your passenger side window :thumb:

...and the #1 way to best here your BOV is...get someone to drive your DSM around you in a parking lot while blowing-off. :applause:

Now can we move on to making your DSM faster, rather then worrying about the cool noises it makes.
