I had high hopes of wiring this in today, but I'm really confused as to what wires are getting spliced into where on the ECU. I have an ECU pinout from vfaq. Basically the picture here is all I have to go off of from fullthrottle, it would be nice if they supported their product a little better.

I'm running in translator mode. I have a wideband to hook up with it. Any help on where these are splicing into the ECU would be appreciated. I understand the power/ground, but thats about it.

Thanks guys.

the only wire you need to cut is the one from the maf sensor to the ECU. that wire should go from the maf to the translator pin 9 then from the translator pin 4 to the ecu. all the rest should be either vampire connectors or solder. pins 6 and 7 on the translator go to the baro sensor and IAT sensor signal wires from the MAF sensor. everything else should be self explanatory

Ok, I'm starting to understand. Does it matter on 6 and 7 which one goes where?

Basically all thats left is the purple wire for AUX trigger... or do I even need that?

6 and 7 dont matter which one is which because you can adjust them to be what you need them to be. basically just use a logger and adjust the output for those two until they are where you want them. i.e. if aux1 is on IAT wire then adjust the settings in the MAFT until the IAT on the logger reads 76 degrees i think and i would have to look at my translator to remember the baro setting. found it on full throttle networks forum. as for the purple you only need to wire it up if you want the translator to make a timing adjustment. sorry i don’t have a 1g so i don’t know where to hook that wire up to or how to adjust it....

Oh ok, from what I've read, you can only adjust timing in the speed density mode, so I guess that one wouldn't apply to me yet.
Great, thanks for your help, I think I'm going to go try it, and if I have any problems/questions, I may PM you if thats ok.

If you plan on adjusting the timing and have a Keydiver chip it would matter which wire you use for the AIT and baro...As the IAT value is adjusted to change the timing other wise it wouldn't really matter...
You don't have to be running it in SD to use the Timing features, but if adjusting it without a chip you need the extra 8pin boost control wiring harness as those are the pins for timing control also

Also Which Pro Manual are you using the 1.5 has alot more info in it and it would be a good Idea to update the pro to V5.03 if you have not already

let me know how you like the pro. i have one and im not really impressed with it. im running it in sd

I have the boost control solenoid, but I'll wait to get a chip and run speed density before I install that.

I think I'm missing something. I've read on how to connect the GM MAF and vfaq talks about 5 DSM wires that I connect the 3 wire GM Maf plug with.. I don't have this.. am I missing something? The GM harness I have has a pink 12v, the black ground, and a yellow signal wire. So where am I supposed to tap these 3 wires?

you don't have to have a chip to use the timing control... Heres a link on how

Its says for 3000gt but its the same for a 1g dsm I would just get a map and AIT sensor instead of running a gm maf... Thats what the pro is for running Speed density other wise you might as well have got the Maf Gen II, give me a min an I'll post up how to wire the GM maf without there harness...

Here is the Maf plug under the hood and here is what each pin is

1 - Idle position switch 5 - None
2 - Air flow sensor 6 - Ground for sensors
3 - MPI control relay 7 - Barometric pressure sensor
4 - 5V power supply for sensors 8 - Intake air temp sensor

you want a 12v power source for the Gm maf which is the MPI control relay
and obviously ground for the ground and air flow sensor for the signal output
So pin 5 to pink Pin 6 to Black and Pin 2 to the yellow wire

the pic is looking at the terminal side of the plug (wires facing away from you)
you need to pay attention to the "Wire side" part of the diagram on the bottom right, since that is what you will be looking at as you cut the wires.

That is exactly what I needed, thank you! I think I'm set now, thanks to everyones help. I'll get it wired in tomorrow, and hopefully have the rest of the parts I need to put the car back together by the weekend.

I never ran the Pro in anything but SD... So I don't know if it will really apply to you. but you may have to mess with the Tune Response to get it to run right but besides that I don't think you have any problems...
