I need a little help here!!

The power steering rack in my 90 TSi AWD went !! The guy at the junk yard tells me they are the same for all 1990 FWD/AWD, 1.8/2.0, TEL's and they didn't start changing them until 91. I need to know if this is accurate because I'm going to pick it up tommorow and I don't want to pull the rest of the engine out if it's he's wrong. The tranny is already out of the car so pulling the engine isn't a problem but I don't want to do it if I don't have to.

The rack assembly is shown as MB861224, used on D21A, D22A and D27A.
D21A is the FWD 1.8L
D22A is the FWD 2.0L
D27A is the AWD 2.0L

CAPS also doesn't show a different part for different years on the 1G.
