I have two 91 galant VR4's, one that I am going to basically leave stock and the other one my friend and I are wanting to build to around 450 horsepower. We plan on doing 2G pistons on 1G rods, and are leaning towards a tune with e85. Overall we aren't sure what we should run for dependability, especially for tuning software. We're thinking about "DSM LINK" for data logging, but does "ECM LINK" also have data logging? We want the whole engine hot tanked, and for cams we're not sure what exactly to run...? For fuel it already has an FPR and we want to run a "Wahlboro 255." For e85 we heard to run 1350 injectors. What we want to try and do is coil on plugs for ingnition. It already has a 2600 clutch, and LSD rear end, we are also thinking about running a GT35 for a turbo.
Just curoius as to what you guys think and what suggestions you guys have to add onto it... I'm really hoping to reach this goal. :thumb:

DSMlink and ecmlink is the same, good choice for tuning.

450hp is cake on e85. fp2 cams are great and could get you there. 1250cc injectors are fine on e85 but bigger give you more room to play in. As for the turbo, you dont need a gt35 turbo. you can reach that goal with an evo3 16g, but i would run a holset hx35/hx40 turbo and are known to go 450+. Theres alotof info's about them plus its a fraction of the price of a gt35 turbo.

also check out www.galantvr4.org if you havent already.

you two need to do a lot of research, 450 on a dsm isnt exactly dependable without alot of money and knowledge, id say look at the upgrade route on this site and get to 300-350, thats pretty cheap and a learning experience, then shoot for more.

im not looking for daily dependable necessarily. it will be garaged most of the time, but i dont want it breaking stuff every other day i drive it. ive heard that 450 hp isnt a hard number to reach, but i am still new to dsm's. i just love the gvr4 body style, and im a sucker for 4 doors.

its the knowlege part that takes time, 255 wont get you to 450 on e85, i would run wither dual 255's or a drop in larger pump, and ecm link , a laptop and a wide-band is all you'll need for tuning, its tuning is a huge learning curve. thats where the knowledge part comes in. Dont skimp on the fuel system if your going to run e85, more is almost always better.

thats why i posted on here. im still new to all of this and im just trying to get input so i can do this right the first time and not break something everyday. but i just wasnt sure also if e85 was going to be the way to go. i dont want to drop 15 grand into the motor and have things break all the time. im just curious as to what would be the best idea

If all you want is 450ish Yes Cams and a HX-35 will get you there. Better off staying pump gas imo. Like everyone else is saying 450 is easy to achieve but RESEARCH so you don't end up skimping yourself. But other then that you look like your on the right path. Just remember, there are always bumps along every path.

i know i havent replied for awhile but a few more questions, if i run aem 1000cc injectors for pump gas will i need to run a resistor box, what do i have to use for a different intake manifold cause mine it pretty bad

HI IMP versus Low IMP injectors...hi will require removal or resistor box...depends on the exact injectors being used. Intake manifold is the least of your required parts right now...additionally, I am not a huge fan of holset turbos...they are desiel turbos not really designed for our oil pressure...hence the age old holset return line debate that will go into infinity...precision turbo is a cost effective solution and they are great turbos....and only marginally more expensive...then you can tell people you are running a turbo that isn't supposed to be on some work truck...ALSO a 255 will get you to 450hp on E85...no problem...made 527 perfectly safe on a single 255 on E85... 500HP for 255...DW300 for 500-600 OR Walbro 400 for 500-???? more than 600 I can tell you that much...and anything over that, start going more exotic...as for cams...good set of budget cams that perform well and wont break the bank are Brian Crowers

so leave my stock intake manifold? because its not the cyclone manifold, and on the DW website i ofund the fuel pump for 169, but the only kit they offer with it says its for fwd. And with a precision what size should i run, im new to alot of this stuff, because this is my first dsm and first time im dealing with turbos. and what should i do for ic piping, a friend said to just buy an ebay kit and get it welded the way i need it and to run a hks ssqv

also should i run internal or external wastegate

All the things your asking can BR answered through a simple search on this site. Go to the tech upgrades and follow the path to get to where you want to be...

Holsets are a bigger PITA to put in a GVR4. Just remember if you go that route you'll need to shave you front motor mount and do a lot of brainstorming on fitting the fmic and radiator.
