I Need a good performance exhaust that isn't very loud

Ok, so i need a really good performance exhaust for my 95 gst, that isn't very loud but still sounds good. It can be a little loud, but i don't really want to stand out.

All piping will make the same noise the difference comes with the resonator, cat and muffler. If you don't want too much noise defenently get a kit with a cat (I am not sure how loud a high flow cat is) get a resonator which is not restrivtive but does help and make sure to get a good muffler and not some cheap muffler. I don't have any recomendations to what brand would be good but I got a 2.5" with no cat, a resonator and a pretty good stainless steel muffler (not sure on the brand it came with the car) and it is loud as hell when I boost. I am thinking if I had a cat I would be way quieter but I like lots of noise so it doesent bother me too much .

My friend told me that a greddy is a pretty good performance kit that ain't too loud. (my friend is an idiot though, so i don't know if i should believe him)

Have any of yall heard anything bout the greddys?

And also, what size down pipe would i need.

well as long as your not running a race motor thats built , any exhuast for your turbo dsm wont put out a really loud tone, hence the fact there isnt much exhuast comming out cause of the turbo itself, im running a 2.5" downpipe, to 3" piping straight back, no muffler or cat, no res, and its quieter then a civic with a coffee can

I put an apexi n1 on my last 92 talon downpipe and catback.It was pretty loud.They did supply a silencer but it kills spool and power and is only really an option on the highway.

I also didn't have a cat .

On my 97 am going with apexi gt downpipe and catback and not sure about cat,resonator or whatever yet.I am getting their new active silencer which opens under wot and is supposed to be very quiet at idle and cruising. See how that works .its also dyno tested to not loose any power .Sounds good to me.

If it don't work than will look at adding in high flo cat or resonator.

Well first the HKS Carbon-Ti isn't a 3" exhaust, not even a 2.5" exhaust. The piping is 60mm which is a little over 2". Is more of a looks/show only exhaust, I wouldn't buy for performance.

In my opinion, Hardly an upgrade from stock catback. If you want a HKS exhaust, go for the Hi Power catback

I have a HKS Carbon Titanium with a Apexi GT Spec downpipe on my car and it has a very nice deep tone and is pretty quiet when driving regularly. When you step on it a loud throaty sound that you will love to hear comes out. Not mention a pretty good gain in response. Also GreddyGst mine is a 2.5" the piping on that system and mine are completly different, the one in that picture looks dinky! Thats weird why does the one in the picture have such small piping though?

Also the Greddy EVO2 or EVO TT are great for a deep sounding system that stays quiet on the road. My friend has one on this 97 GS that had a Hahn Stage 4 and it sounds lovely. It was way quieter than the Apexi N1 he had on before, that thing was pretty loud.

i say just go to an exhaust shop and dish out maybe half of what you would pay for a full performance exhaust system youd have to order and get them to run a custom 3in all the way back/ and get a 3 in cat and find two 3 in resonators, and get a 3in muffler and leave the silencer ( despite silencers are known to hurt power ) If you get a straight through design muffler which is what most ppl run it will be louder than the other style mufflers... At least thats as it was for me.

But honestly almost vehicle that makes power makes noise. No escaping that.

So you have that same exhaust, but 2.5" piping? Where did you get it?

Ok, i looked it up, and for some reason they make the HKS Carbon-ti's with 3" piping for the AWD's, and 2 3/8" for the FWD's. I have no idea why, but they do. That is why your piping is bigger than the one in the picture.

Yeah, I don't know how to convert millimeters into inches, but I guess as I look at it now mine is really a 3"...wow damn standards systems. If the 75mm is 3" then thats what mine is, because theres no way the GST exhaust would work on my car. It's a great exhaust and I love it consider this exhaust or the Greddy for sure if you like deep throaty sounding exhaust.

if you do decide to go with that exhaust go to extreme psi they have on sale for a lot less$$$$$$$ than slow boy my self I got a apexi n1 full cat back and down pipe 3" and I dont think it was loud enough is just right

go custom then. local muffler shops will be able to bend you up a custom 3in or anything under that for relatively cheap. then all you have to do is pick a muffler with the corresponding exhaust size on an inlet for the muffler. i have a custom 3in dp back with a low key muffler. nice deep tone and not to loud if your interested.

I have cheap 3" piping with a magnaflow muffler and resonated tip and I think it sounds pretty good

if you want a quality exhaust for your FWD that will offer a low db reading then you should check out Tanabe. They offer 3 different exhausts all garunteed to be under 93db's and they perform, look and sound great.

i have a 96gst w/ a 3 inch catless down pipe into a 3inch greddy evo 2 cat back. not to loud and not to quiet. perfect tone.

They sell a low key sleeper 3inch exhaust that looks almost stock and its really nice and the welds are awsome.

My friend has a Thermal catback with some ghetto tsudo downpipe and you can't even hear his car, but when he punches it, it's got a nice deep tone, not to raspy or like the infamous honda weed eater sound.
