Scry...looks to be the fitting on the bottom of the turbo and you would have to drill/retap it because it goes up inside the housing, can't use a nut/bolt combo :( Just use a bigger size and tap it out. A good tap kit can be had for like 30 bucks. :) :rocks:

Yup experiencing something like this myself. Three months ago the stock oil drain which i modified for a garrett turbo broke and so there went my stock 7bolt from oil starvation in the highway at 2am. Fast forward to 3 months later and $5,000 for a new built 6bolt and other crap i can't start the car because the new oil drain kit which was supposed to be here on tuesday is missing in action somewhere with our wonderful postal service system. Kinda funny how it turns out but theres too much anger right now so i need to calm down

If Torque is referring to his Beamer then I would hate to be the owner when it does break Cha ching... :notgood:

DSMs are awesome cars to play with because mine costed less than 30grand and will last just as long as any other car and it looks better than any other car but I get to power mine up to surpass anything, yes anything on the road (road being key word here). Daily driven, street legal 600+ HP cars are not easy to come buy and I'm fairly ignorant on all cars but I'm not sure of too many like that. Especially beamers...but again I don't know know that much!

Ty

...didn't mean to double submit...and of course I'm just razzing Torque. Any car you can work on is worth the money, some of us just have more than the others

As for the problem in this thread...been there done that, had it professionally fixed (by a friend) and watched...If it happened to me again I still wouldn't do it because I like making things new and take car to shop to fix things I make un-new... :shhh: Good luck and my suggestion is to get layed prior to working on car so all that aggression is gone and no more twisting studs or bolts. ROFL

i took my time , and wasnt pissed when i did the easy out. The hardest part is jacking the car and trying to get my arms in that spot. That area is tighter then a vigin. I really dont have a lot of know how about removing the turbo or i would have pulled it out to do the easy out but i am going to let the other guy fix it. Im sure it happens to them guys all the time.

So you can strip more bolts on the EVO 8 and blame Mitsubishi for sucking ass?

come on man do i even have to explain it. How old are the bolts on a 95 talon VS EVO ?
and when i said i want a normal car = a unmoded whatever

i hate when people get so technical. Can you just share an experience that made you hate your car and be happy?

Its not like this is a published article , take it for what it is a rant.

now my injectors came in too

but then i had an extra box and im like what is this ? weird shape.....

:sneaky:

You american, have large, bulbous penis! We japanese have >SMALL< penis. Please torque our bolts, americans with mastadonic penis!

haha another tuner blaming his car when he should blame himself for being big strong mechanic ROFL

Me mechanic me fix, *turn* *brrreak* f*cking car is broke again stupid DSM'S

well car is sitting in his parking lot :( we will see what happends from here

  So I bought my car off this guy like 3 months ago. Already I've had to dump $3,500.00 into it, and that's not performance upgrades. Everything has been gone through, or so I thought. Today on the way to the tranny shop to get my leaking tranny looked at, my 14B took a crap. WTF Now I have to buy a new turbo, and a tranny. The guy I bought the car from said it had a bulletproof tranny, and a b16g. Yeah right. I heard later that he beat the car so hard that he went through a new centerforce clutch in 8K miles. Goddamn, how does one go about doing that? Anyway, today wasn't all sadness, now I get to buy the EVO III 16G that I've been wanting, and get a tranny I know will do its job. It's my fault for buying a DSM w/out knowing anything except that they look cool, and can be quick w/ minor upgrades. I love the styling of my 2G b/c it's 10 years old, and looks like it was made this year. The 1G motor is swapped in it, and that's about the only thing not wrong. I checked the compression before I bought it, and it was great. I guess I should have dug a little deeper. Also, around here, all the mechanics are redneck hillbillies who like big blocks, :barf: and think all 4 cylinders are gutless. The first guy who did my timing belt offset it 2 teeth each direction. Right when I started it up, I knew something was wrong, but he just shrugged, turned down the idle, and handed me a bill for $900.00. OMG Awesome! :notgood: Anyway, I've hooked up w/ some cool guys from around here who seem to know their sh*t, and are willing to help me get my car on the road for a reasonable price. I guess I just wanted to let you guys know about me and my car b/c I've been here for like a month, and have just been using mainly the classifieds section. Thanks for having a cool site, and I look forward to being a member for a long time.

My suggestion to you is: stop wasting your money on unqualified grease monkey toothless redneck mechanics. Instead, educate yourself, and go to http://www.vfaq.com and do the work your damn self. I never touched a timing belt in my life and after reading the howto on it, I can now do a timing belt job under 2 hours start to finish (and for free).

I hear that. I grew up w/out ever working on cars, and I'm getting a late start, but believe me, I love it already. I am hoplessly unskilled when it comes to mechanics, WTF but I figure anyone can learn if they're serious. I'm not a retard :thumb: and know that if those Schmidts drinking jack-offs can fix cars, so can I. The guys who are helping me now are super nice, and I'm sure if I hang out w/ them more, I'll start to know my sh*t. I have to get a new tranny, and I'm getting an Evo III 16G, so watching/helping that stuff get installed will help a lot. Watching my fmic get installed really helped, and I can already do more than I could before. I guess it's just a matter of rolling up your sleeves, and going for it. If I f*ck it up, then I'll go to the mechanic. I did finally meet one guy here in Bellingham who knows his sh*t, but his boss is a totalitarian, anal retentative, hick, so I can't really even discuss what he's doing to my car, and god forbid, actually watch and learn. Anyway, I will do as much work as I can. I've been working on cars for 2 weeks, but maybe in a few months I'll be able to do the timing belt. It's hard to learn b/c when I start to do the work people are like :tease: . F*ck em though, I'm going to own a performance shop one day, so they can kiss my ass. :coy: Thanks for the response, it's added some motivation to get more serious about doing my own work. Everyone says that's what owning a DSM is all about, and I want nothing more than to have the full DSM experiance. Later.

with a rescource like this site, and the other sites, your knowledge will grow.

i registered 3 years ago, and my first big project was the free mods. I was nervouse about doing all that.

ive now done several projects, a full AT to MT swap, 2 jdm swaps, a 6bolt swap, and a 4bolt rearend swap to name a few.

not to mention a Slue of other things,

its easy to tear into someting with the knowledge, that someone who can get you out of a bind is just a keyboard key away.

Haha! $3,500..thats NOTHING.

When you hit the $12,000 mark come talk to me :) Hell I could have had a Toyota Supra the car I wanted in the first place. I fix it with the intent on selling it, but then I drive it again and fall in love with it..so then I drive it until the next part breaks...with the same results.

Hello GreenHorn,

Nice to meet you and welcome!

Well sounds like you will already have paid someone to do all the major stuff before you will really get a chance to learn how to do this stuff on your own.

And if you are lucky, and they do it right, you won't have to for quite a while.

Did they put a new timing belt and other timing components in your engine when it was put in? You better make sure. If not, that will be your chance to learn some stuff. If that has not been done MAKE SURE and do it pretty soon (like after you get it back from the other guys working on it).

I recomend that you start out by doing some of the "basics" yourself, the easy stuff: plugs, oil changes, air filter. Then fuel filter.

By doing so, you will get used to using wrenches, and will be less scared to try the "bigger stuff". Other stuff you could do yourself with web help is brakes, starter (if it dies), alternator, etc..

Thanks to everyone for replying. It made me feel welcome. :thumb: Anyway, I'm looking around for a good used 2G tranny to put in my 95 GST w/ the 1G motor. I also am wondering if a N/T 2G tranny will also be o.k. to use. Oh yeah, I had the timing belt replaced along w/ the tensioner, water pump, seals, etc. Now I'm going to replace the tranny, bolt up an EVO III 16G, put in my RC 550's, Denso fuel pump, :tease: Command Flo FPR (it's a cheapy, but couldn't afford the others, and hopefully get my car going a bit faster. It's o.k. now (estimated by a knowledable dude to be in the low to mid 14's, but I want it to move out hard when I put my foot down. When I first got it, I was coming from a slow ass car, and it felt quick, but now I'm used to it, and all I want is more reliable power ROFL . Something tells me a daily driven eclipse w/ decent power (340whp+) won't be that reliable. Now that I've found this site, I'm not so worried b/c there's lots of good guys who sell parts that are 1/5 the price I would pay by taking it to a mechanic. I'm not going to have the above work done by a proffesional, but the guy helping me really does know his sh*t, and is happy to let me pick his brain while he's doing the work. If I get my way, I want to do the work w/ him supervising every step of the way. Once I learn to do something, I never forget, and If I can install a tranny, fuel injectors, a bigger turbo, a fuel pump/re-wire, and a fpr, I'll be well on my way to maintaining my car by myself. I do have to confide in you guys that I'm a little nervous about going deep into the motor, or doing the timing belt, b/c there is no room for error in these instances. Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted on if I get the 2G tranny for my 95 GST w/ the 1G swap, and if I find out if the 2G FWD N/T tranny will work w/ my car. Thank-you all for your input. Every one of the responses really helped me out. I look forward to getting more involved w/ DSM's/this site, and hopefully learning and eventually contributing my knowledge. Later.
