I admit it, I'm a noob!

I'm new to turbo's and AWD...

1.)
The transfer case on my 91 awd.. well it must have leaked
(from the previous owner)
The splines were rusty a bit.

2.)
I bought an intake elbow from Dejon and now I know
what it means when they say it "barely clears the wastegate"
The coupler barely fits over the inlet of the turbo
and so.. the clamp that fits over it, well half of it tightens
the coupler down while the other half seems to slide
it off... (when it's lose I have a horrible idle)


So my car is making this... hum.. whistle.. it get's higher
pitched as the RPMs increase. You know those bazoka tube
shaped annoying whistle things that have a high piched scream
the harder you blow into them? (Second grade party hand out things)
That's what it sounds like.

I'm trying to figure out if... my turbo is going to die.. maybe it's making the noise?
Or.. maybe it's the driveshaft in the transfer case?

Has anyone else installed that dejon elbow? I'm in alaska and the roads are rough
the little coupler hose thinggy keeps getting knocked loose. It's annoying.

That's all I had for now. I try to keep quiet on these forums.

Any ideas on the noise ? Thanks!

bazzoka tube thingy = kazooo
coupler falling off = get T-bolts
noise ? boot leak? -- leak test it.

Not a kazoo.. those are those things you humm into,
I'm talking about.. well these things look like
a turbine from a turbo in a plastic tube..
the fan inside spins and it makes a high pitch noise.


T Bolts?
I don't know what those are.
BUT..
if it FIXES it I'M SOLD.

(looking up T bolts like a dumb *** on Google)

take the old intake pipe and hack off the end that coupled onto the turbo... stick that piece into the new coupler and stick that on the turbo... that we stop the sliding... i did it.. .works great... idles fine now
