First off, bought a turbo thinking it was a HX35 from a junkyard that was on craigslist. Once I got it ended up being a HY35, didn't know the physical differences till I got it. Was a tricky bastered, put the junk yard tag right in front of the model plate so didn't think anything of it till I researched finding the HY doesn't have one.

Anyway, it's a 9cm^2 exhaust housing that I can't make fit for the life of me. As far as I know the only mods needed on a HX is the water tube. The hot side is hitting the balance shaft casting on the block. I've trimmed both down till they start to turn blue. With no more matterial left to cut off, I bought 2 extra exhaust gaskets so 3 total. Got better but not nearly enough.

I probably need a physical spacer/longer studs. Or a different manifold to run it. The only other thing I have thought of is sticking the hotside in the mill, and turning the flange angle down so it pushes it away from the block.

Youre doing one thing you should never do to install a part. Which is, destroy other parts to make it work. Stop what youre doing, quit rigging stuff and get the right turbo and manifold you need.

Ill remember that thanks.......
Whats fabrication/customization/modification?
What do you do to the water tube to make this turbo fit? You MOD it to clear the compressor housing.
Theres tons of people on the stock manifold/FP manifold running these turbos, atleast the HX35.

Ill leave the bolt on parts to you, and the custom parts to me

Theres a difference in destroying and modifying. If I remember right this forum is wanting someone to try the HY35
"someone should try it" -under the HY35 section

To a stock manifold. Waiting for the FP mani in the mail. Is there any physical differences in length?

Why are you continually attempting to bolt a T3-flanged turbo to DSM-flanged manifolds?

Ditch the stock manifold, ditch the FP manifold, and buy yourself a Turbonetics cast T3 manifold. That setup has trapped 133mph in a full-weight 2G with a HY35.

I personally never knew of the tubonetics mani Ive only seen the FP ones. I do now and will be cancelling my order tomorrow with FP. I ordered it today so know they havent processed it yet.

Do they still make these mani? I cant seem to find them. I can find the knock off ones ebay. Dont really want to try one of those but I will if anyone knows if they will work

Not sure if Turbonetics still markets the manifold or not, but I heard at one time Treadstone Performance bought the copyright from Turbonetics so if you're buying the Treadstone manifold it's the same part that Turbonetics once sold....not a Chinese copy like you'll find on eBay.

If not, check the classifieds here on this site.

Sweet thanks. Same one I found on eBay. You can tsee the difference in flange angle vs the stock one.
