Hey i just got my new built motor in my car my hx35 on and im having huge problems

So i bought the holset from a fellow member with a fresh rebuild zero miles and the motor from a friend and i know the motor is good i got the hotside bep bolton from a member here also and has a stripped bolt hole on the part that bolts the center of the turbo to the hotside and anyway i got the car running and driving i started driving down the road was kinda ok at 1st and then started pouring smoke everywhere from under the hood exhaust everywhere i went about 1 mile and now i have oil all over my engine bay and zero oil on dipstick the oil return on turbo is a -10 the feed is -4

Please someone help i dont know what it is its not coming from headgasket its coming from the turbo

Turbo's obviously not draining. What does your PCV system look like?

Well the 1 part off the valve cover to the intake pipe on the turbo isnt on i have it blocked off on the intake pipe and a little breather filter on there

Me and jbeaton think its the turbo, gonna test another and see how that works.

Cant get around to that turbo for a while though it will be today though

You blocked off the the crankcase ventilation line and are sucking unmetered air into the turbo?

The line that goes from the valve cover to the intake pipe i put a breather filter on the valve cover and blocked off the nipple on the intake pipe where the vacume line used to go

When I reinstalled my 16g after a refresh and new manifold, the oil feed line mysteriously loosened a tiny bit. I cranked it down pretty good and it still loosened. Luckily it let loose after my shake down and I had the hood popped just idling checking things out.

I noticed it very quickly and still lost probably a cup or more of oil, when it came out it squirted everywhere. Are you sure all the connections are tight? Is it smoking out the exhaust or in the bay, that part was somewhat unclear in the first post.

Hey you figure out that holset issue yet?

Yes other turbo is now on the car and is running great and the member that i bought the turbo from got a not so nice text today im not vary happy considering i paid 300$ for a turbo that was said to be rebuilt without hotside and it does nothing that it is supposed to do

Just curious, does the HX35 that you have need a restrictor in the -4AN line (assuming you are feeding from OFH)? If so, did you have the right size restrictor?

If not, it may just be a matter of time until the new turbo begins having the same problems.

The motor and turbo i now have in were ran for 20k miles with no restrictor and had zero issue unlike the one i bought from a member here
