I know some cams like Delta put their own hand scribed markings.

I also know that Comp and FP cams are the same thing.

Is there ANY way to know if these cams are legit just by looking at them?

Thanks

By the numbers, most places are saying they're Comp. The "CWC" on them is the company that made the blanks.

As for whether they're actually legit or not, sorry I can't help answer that.

That's what I would have to say too

Not familiar with the FP line but the part number resembles the Comp Cams format 101 = 4g63 mitsu,
201 and 202 = grind number, -8 = price level

FP cams are regrinds of comp cams.
So they can actually be FP cams.

My brand new FP cams I bought came in comp cam boxes. :thumb:

Well first of all, FP are basically Comp cams anyway. They even give you a Comp cam card.

I just got off the phone with FP and the guy told me that these numbers match the cams they sell (he even read them off without me telling him my numbers).

He also told me that FP cams have these numbers engraved by hand like these cams do. So...so far so good. But this doesnt mean that some random guy couldnt have scribed those numbers on stockers and called them Comp/FP.

I wish these companies would STAMP a seal or label denoting they came from them.

Do yours have the numbers hand engraved like the ones I posted? Do they have any certified labeling showing theyre Comp/FP?

If you have calipers or micrometers, with the lobe facing 12 o clock position, measure the the sides (basecircle) across the 9 - 3 o clock position, subtract that from the overall height 12 - 6 o clock position.
This will give you " cam lift " multiply that number by the rocker ratio and that will give you the valve lift.

Have a great weekend all !

Those are legit cams. Every cam I've gotten from Comp has the exact same handwriting style. Same guy must write the info down for ALL their cams LOL I JUST looked at my Comp Cams and it's the EXACT same handwriting.

You are good to go man. If you think they are forgeries or junk, I'll gladly give you $150 for em, for your troubles, of course!! ;)
