2G How to take out HVAC Controls

I’m wanting to know how to take out the HAVC controls so I can replace with red LEDS. I took out center console out and unscrewed all four screws in HVAC to get out and the brackets are still holding it in. So do I need to take out the dash to get to the HVAC? Or is there something I’m missing or an easier way to swap the bulbs out?

You should not have to remove the dash.

If its a 2g, just pop the front bezel for the radio off, its held in with spring clips you can do it with no tools and then there should be four phillips screws exposed that hold the hvac control panel in, get the screws out and you will be able to pull it out enough to remove cables and wires from it.
