medicine hat,
my axle is stuck in the hub, so i want to take the hub out so as to try and get the axle pressed out of there. But i've got the 4 bolts out that hold the hub to the arm but dont know how to get the hub offa the arm it since it seams to be stuck there tight!. Also since half my axle is stuck in there will i be able to pull the axle and hub at the same time? it doesnt look like they will fit through the hole in the arm.

OK this is what you can do:

remove the half shaft nut and cotter pin.

unscrew the nut until the top (castle side) of the nut is flush with the top of the half shaft.
take a piece of wood and put it between the half shaft end and hammer. smack the crap out of the wood block until the shaft moves in the splines. when the shaft moves stop. it is broke loose and can be removed.

remove the tie rod from the steering knuckle.
-to do this i used the following procedure with great results.
remove the cotter pin and loosen the tie rod nut. unscrew the nut until the top (castle side) of the nut is flush with the top of the stud. take a floor jack and use it to press up on the bottom of the stud with the nut attached. jack up on the tie rod stud(make sure you not touching the knuckle arm with the jack) until it compresses the coil spring a bit (not much just so pressure is applied to the bottom of the stud.) find something solid and blunt and set it on the steering knuckle(i used a piece of steel round stock 3" round) hit the object downward while pressure is applied to the bottom of the stud via the floor jack. a few good smacks with a good sized hammer should pop it loose.

remove the ball joint
-for this one almost the same way but a bit easier.
loosen the ball joint nut.(you won't be able to get the nut totally off with the steering knuckle still on the ball joint. loosen it as much as you can.) jack up on the steering knuckle where the tie rod stud was.(the knuckle will try to move since there is no tie rod holding it still. don't get discouraged. just slip the stud back into the knuckle and start the nut to hold it in place. don't tighten it or you'll be repeating step one.) jack up on the steering knuckle until it compresses the coil spring a bit just as you did before. take a pipe or equivalent and smack down with a hammer on the lower control arm. the ball joint will pop, but won't come off. you'll have to loosen the nut the rest of the way now and you'll have the clearance to get it off.

the steering knuckle will swing on the top ball joint and you can now remove your half shaft. if it's still a little stiff in the splines, use a dead blow hammer to knock it out.

if you need to replace the wheel bearing (hub assembly) loosen the four bolts that secure it. take off the top ball joint and remove the whole knuckle from the car. set the knuckle (wheel bearing side down) up between two cinder blocks putting wood between the knuckle and block on each side. find something solid approximately the same size of the wheel bearing bore and pound the wheel bearing out. don't worry about hurting it you don't need it anymore. to install just set it in the bore and use the 4 bolts to seat it. give each bolt about 2 turns in a criss cross pattern so the wheel bearing pulls down evenly.

hope this helps.
good luck.
