Ok, ive been searching for about two hours for a procedure guideline on how to properly mount an external wastegate on a dsm manifold. from start to finish. i will be purchasing a tial 38mm from a friend and have decided to mount it off the manifold.

can someone please explain how to or were to take my manifold to get this done. also a rough estimate in pricing would be appreciated... thanks

ps. please dont say " just run it off your o2 housing"

Have the flange welded on the front of the header where the runners all come together! The cost depends on where u take it to! It should be able to be mig welded because it is not cast but may have to ark weld it.just drill ## hole for it and take it to a muffler shop they have the tools to do it and should be cheap!

hmm, these manifolds arnt cast? cool, i didnt know that. also to drill the hole on the manifold, how would i go about doing that? size? etc... also im assuming that i will need a 38mm flange correct?

Not sure what that guy is smoking but yes they are cast and to properly weld one it'll have to be heated up for awhile in an oven. Find the flange for it and drill the hole that matches the flange's hole. Then toss it in an oven until it's toasty warm and weld on the flange. It's iffy if it'll last a long time and trying to do it on a stock manifold will mean it'll "vent" off of one runner instead of the collector which would be better.

never heard of the whole oven thing. i just heated with a torch and welded the flange before hand. Also i weld the pipe to the cast mani. with stainless steel rod turned out better. As for cost it shouldnt run u more than 75 i hope any more than that is too much IMO

I'm not saying the header is not cast! I am saying its not all cast! I have seen a thread about this that said that and was a moderator! No need to attack people and jump the gun.yes I should have been a little more clear. Your just a goofy for saying to put it in to a oven when he needs to take it to a shop to weld it that's just dumb!

the integrity of the weld is "iffy" at best on cast.. yes a pre-heat is absolutely required, if you don't like cracks. cast is tough because very very few(same batch of molten) are the exact same structure. which means there is a difference in material, which means you won't know what mix to weld with. i had an alluminum cast once i had to use 1 aluminum tig rod and 1 magnesium rod to get the weld to quit popping out. yes stainless is usually your best bet, because the carbon compound binds better with more structures than any other, but i wouldn't put 20 bucks on it holding up for too long. i would suggest a new manifold... good luck
