How To Change Tran Fluid

About 4 months ago when I rebuilt my motor I couldnt find a place to fill your tran fluid.
How do you change the tran fluid in a eclipse n/t or do you?????

If it fills through a tube like a 1g does, I highly recommend that you soak the bottles of tranny fluid in the hottest water you can get so it heats up and thins out. I didn't and it took me an hour and a half to fill my tranny. Horrible experience.

the vfaq says to use:
3 qts of GL4 Gear Oil (i.e. Redline MT90)
1 qt of GL5 Gear Oil (i.e. Redline 75W90)

but i've read to use the Penzoil Synchromesh. do i just get this and how much? thanks again

You can use whatever gear oil you'd like. There are plenty of threads on here discussing/debating which is better.

I've used Synchromesh for about a year or so with no problems. I'm switching over to Redline in a month or two when I do my clutch swap. I'm going with 2 qts. of MT-90 and 1 qt. of MTL. You will need 2.1 qts. I believe for a FWD transmission (2.4 qts. for an AWD).

Note that Chrysler and Mitsubishi manual gearboxes are different. The only ones that fill through a tube are the automatics.
Use only factory fluid in the Chrysler N/T box.

I dont want to argue with a moderator, but i had a chrysler tech tell me royal purple met there standards. He said that it just wasnt available at the time most of the manuals were created

Royal Purple may. You could ask Chrysler, except they're too busy trying to make some money on eBay. Call RP and ask them if they recommend it for fiber synchro brakes.

Learn early to not believe what a "tech" tells you. They're the same people who were just grease monkeys twenty years ago, and not many of them got jobs as mechanics because of a sharp engineering acumen.
