In advance, i want to thank everyone for the help to this question. I searched how to change the fuel filter on this site, but all of them were for the 420a's.

My main problem right now is depressurizing the system. i lifted up the backseat and opened that panel, but i believe there are 3 wires, which do i pull out? Also my battery has been out of my car for quite some time, will there still be pressure in my system even though there is no power to the car? Finally, the fuel filter is that small can located between and under the battery and the intake manifold correct or no?

Thanks for your time and input.

yea all that was gone can seem to get a wrench in there and on there right and still have enough leverage to turn the damn thing.

Well you are going to need to get 2 wrenches in there. One to hold the filter and a line wrench for the nut. The nut wont' come loose if you don't use the second wrench on the filter. It will just twist the line off. You don't need much leverage just position the wrenches so that you can squeeze them together to loosen the fitting.

yea ill try again when im not so pissed off and fustrated at the car to start the day. was trying to change the filter as i was doing other things. and yea was scared to break the line, damn cars already getting 13 mpg dont need to add a leaking line to that.

Yeah I've been soaking her in pb blaster for the last few days. So a line wrench and channel locks to hold the filter from spinning should work well?

I rounded the god damn bottom nut head! Started with an open wrench and I believe that was enough to waste it in a way that after that a line wrench didn't also work. The only way to take the filter off was holding the bottom nut with vice grips and then twisting the filter from the top with an 19mm open wrench. Still wasn't easy, got cramps (lot of force, no room)!
Now I'm looking forward to cut off the bend of the top of the line, that way I can take the old nut off and use a compression fitting instead.
So a steel compression fitting will do the trick? Steel is mandatory, right? Brass out of question? Do anybody have a picture of this?
