What is the proper way to align the thrust bearing in a 7 bolt with the flange style thrust bearing?

I torque the mains down lightly 20ish ft/lbs and tap the crank flange with a deadblow. However, if the block crankwalked before, it will do it again.

Nope never crankwalked before... Just don't want it to happen in the future.
