2G How to: 3g Eclipse shifter into 2g Eclipse turbo

ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK! (UPDATED WIRING INFO 1/17/21)

wiring off of 3g shifter as follows -

1- Black - common wire for mode selection (grounded)
2- Red - common wire for shifting (ground with black wire)
3- Red/white - auto shifting mode (any time shifter is in P,R,N,D, will show continuity to ground)
4- Blue - manual shifting mode ( any time shifter is on the manual shift tiptronic will show continuity to ground and will deactivate auto shift wire/mode)
5- Yellow - up shift signal, (use down shift wire on shift box if you want to reverse shifter direction)
6- White - down shift signal (use up shift wire on shift box if you want to reverse shifter direction)

how to test what wire does what using a test light. hook test light clamp to a 12v+, then probe each wire while going though the 4 selections. its that simple. (IN ORDER TO USE TEST LIGHT METHOD, 3G SHIFTER MUST HAVE BLACK AND RED COMMON WIRES GROUNDED TO CHASSIS)

mod; 3g (2000-2005) mitsubishi eclipse tiptronic shifter assembly in a 2g (1995-1999) eclipse turbo (gsx-gst)

3g shifter found at junk yard for $40

tiptronic will only work with some type of shift boxes ONLY.

all cables will plug right in except one (pictures below)

yes you can do paddle shifters but again you can only do it using a shift box,

Have you looked at whether the Lancer shift knobs would work? I think the knob is slimmer and might clear the console better.
